Which cars does the Max Cooling Radiator for FD2 fit?

The Max Cooling Radiator for FD2 is designed for the JDM Civic Type R sedan built from 2007 to 2010 with the K20A engine. It may not fit the US-market FG Civic, so contact Bulletproof Automotive with your exact model before ordering, and mention any other front-mounted parts such as an oil cooler.

Can I keep the factory cooling fan and air conditioning?

Yes. The manufacturer states that the cooling fan and air conditioning can be fitted with this radiator, so the FD2 keeps its climate control. Hoses, clamps and coolant are not listed as included, so check the condition of the factory hoses and have fresh coolant ready for the swap.

How thick is the radiator?

The manufacturer lists a thickness of 48mm. It does not publish row count, weight or capacity in liters, only that the design uses the available space to maximize capacity and that the flex round process saves weight. Bulletproof Automotive does not quote figures the manufacturer has not released.

What does the optional coating do?

The heat dissipation coating is a separate option that the manufacturer says gives a higher cooling effect, and it is recommended for owners who do a lot of sports driving. It is not part of this listing, so ask Bulletproof Automotive about adding it when you order if your FD2 is a regular track car.

Why does coolant temperature affect power?

When coolant runs hot, the engine computer applies a high-temperature correction that reduces power and hurts fuel economy. By moving coolant efficiently and shedding more heat, the radiator is designed to stop the temperature rising at full throttle, which keeps the engine out of that correction during hard driving.

Description

J’s Racing Max Cooling Radiator for FD2 Honda Civic Type R

J’s Racing’s Max Cooling Radiator for FD2 Civic Type R is an all-aluminum unit built to hold a hard-driven K20A at a steady temperature through full-throttle sessions. The Osaka Honda specialist used a new forming method to make the most of the space in front of the engine for extra capacity, and a one-piece pressing it calls flex round processing keeps the metal at full thickness through every bend, which adds strength while cutting weight. It is 48mm thick and keeps the factory fan and air conditioning. It is aimed at an FD2 that sees circuit or sports driving in any season; a commuter will not use the extra capacity.

Design and Performance

Coolant moves through the core efficiently, which J’s Racing says improves heat rejection and stops the temperature climbing at full throttle. Keeping the temperature stable matters because a hot engine triggers the ECU’s high-temperature correction, which costs power and fuel economy. An optional heat dissipation coating raises cooling further and is recommended for owners who drive on track often.

Features

All-aluminum construction with weight and cooling efficiency as the priorities
Flex round one-piece pressing keeps wall thickness constant at bends and folds
Larger capacity from a design that uses the available space to the full
48mm thickness
Cooling fan and air conditioning can still be fitted
Optional heat dissipation coating for an extra margin of cooling

Applications

Honda Civic Type R: FD2 | 2007-2010 | 2.0L K20A

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
