Does the Aluminum Radiator for EK9 fit the EG6?

Yes. Spoon registers the Aluminum Radiator for EK9 for three hatchbacks: the EG6 Civic SiR from 1991, the EK4 Civic SiR from 1995 and the EK9 Civic Type R from 1997. All three carry B16-series engines, and one radiator in the factory shape serves them all.

Which Civic models does Spoon list?

Spoon lists the JDM hatchbacks with B16 engines: the EG6 SiR, the EK4 SiR in both of its production periods, and the EK9 Type R. It does not register other Civic body styles or engines, so owners of swapped or US-market cars should discuss their build with BA before ordering.

Why does it need Spoon hoses?

At high rpm the water pump draws coolant hard enough to pull an ordinary hose inward until it sticks shut. Spoon designed its SEP radiator hoses with thick walls to resist that, and it lists them as a requirement for this radiator so the extra cooling capacity is not lost to a collapsed hose.

Spoon lists it at 4.6 kg and ships it in a box of 66 x 19 x 63 cm. Spoon does not quote a weight for the factory radiator, so BA makes no claim of a saving; the purpose of the part is a larger, more effective core rather than a reduction in weight.

Is the air conditioning retained?

Yes. Spoon builds the radiator to work with the air conditioning in place, so the condenser stays and the car keeps its comfort for road use. That suits a B16 hatchback that is driven to events and home again, with the cooling margin there when the session starts.

Description

Spoon Sports Aluminum Radiator for EK9 / EK4 / EG6 Honda Civic

The Spoon Sports Aluminum Radiator for EK9 / EK4 / EG6 Civic is sized for the B16A and B16B hatchbacks, and at a listed 4.6 kg it is the lightest radiator in this Spoon range. Like its larger siblings it keeps the factory outline and the air conditioning, uses a two-row all-aluminum core 35 mm thick, and carries an estimate from Spoon of roughly 40 percent more cooling than stock. A Spoon radiator cap is included. Spoon registers it for the EG6 SiR, the EK4 SiR and the EK9 Type R, and asks that it be paired with Spoon SEP radiator hoses, which stop the water pump collapsing the hoses at the high revs these engines are built for. Its thermo switch and thermostat are the recommended companions. A B16 that runs regular circuit days, especially in summer, will put the extra capacity to use; a weekend road car will not need it.

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
