What does full-length adjustment mean on the Full-Spec Damper Kit for AP1?

The damper body itself lengthens or shortens to set ride height, so the spring keeps the same preload. On the Full-Spec Damper Kit for AP1 that means the S2000 can be lowered or raised while keeping the ride quality and damping character Spoon tuned in, instead of stiffening as the car drops.

What spring rates come in the kit?

Spoon specifies 14 kg/mm front and 12 kg/mm rear for its standard radial tire setup, with damping at position 2 at each end. Go Tuning lists the same rates and confirms the kit ships complete with springs and upper mounts.

Is the kit comfortable enough for the street?

Yes, at sensible heights. Spoon tuned it so ride quality does not suffer as height changes, and the standard setup is designed for radial tires. An S2000 kept near the recommended 645 mm front and 635 mm rear fender heights should ride firmly but with composure.

Are spanner wrenches included?

No. Go Tuning notes that the spanner wrenches needed to adjust the collars are not included. Most shops have them, and owners who plan to change settings at the track should buy a pair so ride height can be altered away from the workshop.

How does it compare with the Spoon Fix Type kit?

The Fix Type kit is a fixed-height damper sold without springs, meant for road cars. The Full Spec kit adds ride height and damping adjustment, includes springs and upper mounts, and suits an owner who will set the car up for circuit use.

Description

Spoon Sports Full-Spec Damper Kit for AP1 / AP2 Honda S2000

The Spoon Sports Full-Spec Damper Kit for AP1 and AP2 Honda S2000 is built around the main advantage of a full-length adjustable coilover: ride height can be changed without spoiling the ride. Because the body length moves rather than the spring perch, the spring keeps its zero-touch region, and the damper retains the damping character and spring feel Spoon tuned into it. Spring feel is Spoon’s own term for the natural sensation near 1 g, where suspension arm movement and tire deflection are kept distinct so the driver reads both. Spoon improved the damper oil so the kit performs on high spring rates, and the standard setup runs 14 kg/mm front and 12 kg/mm rear on radial tires. Go Tuning describes a chromoly steel body with aluminum components and 45 mm single-adjustable pistons. Spoon calls it an ideal set for any user, and it fits a roadster that splits its time between road and circuit.

Spoon Standard Setup

Spoon supplies a baseline for radial tires: damping at position 2 front and rear, with recommended fender heights of 645 mm front and 635 mm rear. That gives an owner a proven starting point before adjusting for track or alignment needs.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
