Do the bump rubbers really need trimming?

Yes. Spoon states that the front and rear bump rubbers must each be cut by 20 mm, matching the 20 mm drop in ride height. Skipping it leaves the car resting closer to the bump stops, which hurts ride quality and lets the stops interfere with the spring before Spoon intended.

How does a barrel spring differ from a normal coil?

A straight coil spring has one rate along its length. A barrel spring varies its coil diameter, so it offers more than one rate: Spoon uses the softer section near the static 1G load for comfort and the firmer section once the car loads up in a fast corner.

Is the Progressive Spring Set for BF1 a good choice for daily driving?

Yes. Spoon kept the Progressive Spring Set for BF1 soft around normal ride height and set the rates on public winding roads as well as mini circuits. A 20 mm drop and 4.5 and 5.1 kgf/mm rates suit a coupe that is driven to work all week.

Will it fit the US Prelude?

Yes. Go Tuning, the sole US distributor for Spoon, offers the set for the 2026 model year Prelude, the same BF1 hybrid coupe Spoon registers in Japan with the CVT. Go Tuning lists the set as a pre-order item, so BA confirms the shipping date when an order is placed.

Does it work with the factory dampers?

Yes. Spoon designed the set for the standard Prelude suspension and lists no damper change, only the bump rubber trim. The equal 20 mm drop at both ends keeps the factory rake. Spoon publishes no factory spring rates for the BF1, so BA does not quote how much stiffer the set is than stock.

Description

Spoon Sports Progressive Spring Set for BF1 Honda Prelude

The Spoon Sports Progressive Spring Set for BF1 Honda Prelude is among the first chassis parts for the sixth-generation coupe, and Spoon built it around a barrel-shaped spring rather than a straight coil. Because the coil diameter changes along the length, a barrel spring carries more than one rate: low around the 1G load of the car at rest, where ride comfort is decided, and higher as it compresses in a quick corner. Spoon settled the rates after testing on winding roads and mini circuits at 4.5 kgf/mm front and 5.1 kgf/mm rear, and the car sits 20 mm lower at both ends. The front and rear bump rubbers have to be trimmed by 20 mm to suit, so plan the fitting as a proper strut job. It fits the e:HEV hybrid coupe Spoon registers, and suits a Prelude owner who wants a lower, tidier stance and more composure on a back road while keeping the grand touring ride that defines the car.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
