Do I need the Adjustable Stabilizer Link for FL5?

Only if you run the Spoon front bar. Spoon requires the Adjustable Stabilizer Link for FL5 when the front of the car is more than 40 mm below stock height or when its front bar is used in the inner 136 percent holes. At milder drops on the outer holes, the factory links remain correct.

Will it work with the factory stabilizer bar?

No. Spoon describes this link as dedicated to its own front stabilizer, part 51300-FL5-000, and lists no fitment with the Honda bar. Owners keeping the stock bar on a lowered car should look at a link designed for that bar instead.

How much adjustment does it have?

Spoon gives a range from 50 mm shorter to 30 mm longer than the factory link. Shortening is the side that matters on a lowered car, since dropping the body raises the bar ends relative to the control arm. The extra length allows for setups that sit near stock height.

How should the links be set up?

Set the car at its normal ride height on the ground or on ramps, with the weight of the driver ideally included, and adjust each link until it drops into the bar end without pushing or pulling. Matching both sides keeps the bar free of preload so it does not bias the car to one side.

Is this a good part for a Spoon progressive spring setup?

It is not needed for that setup. Spoon lists its FL5 progressive springs at about 20 mm lower than stock, well inside the 40 mm limit, so the factory links suit the outer 130 percent hole. The adjustable link becomes necessary only if you also want the 136 percent setting.

Description

Spoon Sports Adjustable Stabilizer Link for FL5 Honda Civic Type R

The Spoon Sports Adjustable Stabilizer Link for FL5 Honda Civic Type R exists for one job: keeping the Spoon front stabilizer working at the right angle once the car is lowered past the point the factory link can manage. Its length adjusts from 50 mm shorter to 30 mm longer than stock, so the bar can be set level at rest and free of preload at almost any ride height an FL5 is likely to run. Spoon made it specifically for its 51300-FL5-000 front bar and requires it in two situations: a front ride height more than 40 mm below stock, and use of the bar’s inner 136 percent holes. If neither applies, the factory links do the job and this part is not needed. For a coilover car set low for the track, it is the piece that lets the front bar behave as Spoon intended.

The Adjustable Stabilizer Link for FL5 works only with the Spoon Front Stabilizer Set for FL5, sold separately

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
