Does the Inlet Build Package for VA WRX need a tune?

Yes, plan on one. The turbo inlet and bypass valve each run without tuning, but GrimmSpeed advises consulting a tuner right after fitting the 3-port solenoid and not building boost until the WRX is tuned. The Inlet Build Package for VA WRX owners is meant to support that tune.

What comes in the GrimmSpeed inlet package?

The package contains three GrimmSpeed parts for the 2015-2021 WRX: the one-piece cast aluminum Version 2 Turbo Inlet, the Version 2 Bypass Valve with a billet 6061 body, and the 3-port electronic boost control solenoid. Buying them together costs less than buying each one separately.

Does the color option change all three parts?

No. The Black or Red choice on this package is listed by GrimmSpeed as the finish of the Version 2 Bypass Valve. The turbo inlet and the boost control solenoid ship in their standard GrimmSpeed form regardless of which bypass valve color is selected at checkout.

Will this package fit a Canadian-market WRX?

It depends on the factory inlet. GrimmSpeed states its Version 2 Turbo Inlet is not compatible with the Canadian-spec factory aluminum inlet that has coolant lines running through it. Owners of a Canadian 2015-2021 WRX should check which inlet the car has before ordering.

Can the package be used on a Forester XT?

GrimmSpeed lists this package for the 2015-2021 WRX only. The Version 2 Bypass Valve and the Version 2 Turbo Inlet are each listed individually for the 2014-2018 SJ Forester XT as well, so Forester XT owners should buy the parts separately rather than assume the package applies.

Description

GrimmSpeed Inlet Build Package for VA Subaru WRX

The GrimmSpeed Inlet Build Package for VA WRX owners groups the three parts that sit between the airbox and the turbo on the 2.0L FA20DIT: a one-piece cast aluminum Version 2 Turbo Inlet, the billet Version 2 Bypass Valve and a 3-port electronic boost control solenoid. It suits a WRX headed for a tune, where the solenoid gives the tuner accurate boost control and the inlet and valve keep that boost from collapsing or leaking. On a WRX that will stay on the factory calibration, the bypass valve alone is the more sensible buy.

How It Works

GrimmSpeed calls the factory turbo inlet flimsy and restrictive, with known collapse points; the Version 2 inlet replaces it with a rigid casting. Because GrimmSpeed designed that inlet alongside its own solenoid, the pair mounts without the washers or longer bolts GrimmSpeed warns other solenoids can need.

Features

Rigid one-piece cast aluminum turbo inlet
Recirculating bypass valve with a billet 6061 body and 38mm piston
3-port solenoid for finer, more consistent boost curves
Priced below the three GrimmSpeed parts bought separately

What’s Included

GrimmSpeed Version 2 Turbo Inlet
GrimmSpeed Version 2 Bypass Valve (black or red)
GrimmSpeed 3-Port Electronic Boost Control Solenoid

Applications

Subaru WRX: VA | 2015-2021 | 2.0L FA20DIT

Notes

Plan on a tune: GrimmSpeed advises consulting a tuner immediately after installing the 3-port solenoid and not driving in a way that builds boost until the car is properly tuned
The Black or Red option selects the finish of the bypass valve
The bypass valve in this Inlet Build Package for VA WRX owners is also sold on its own as the GrimmSpeed Version 2 Bypass Valve for VA Subaru WRX and SJ Forester XT
GrimmSpeed states the turbo inlet does not fit the Canadian-market factory aluminum inlet that has coolant lines running through it
The GrimmSpeed Stage 1 Power Package for VA Subaru WRX also contains a 3-port solenoid, so a WRX owner planning both upgrades can add the GrimmSpeed StealthBox Cold Air Intake for VA Subaru WRX on its own instead

About GrimmSpeed

GrimmSpeed began in 2006 in a single-stall garage in Maplewood, Minnesota, porting and polishing Subaru manifolds. After building parts for several other makes, the company narrowed its focus back to Subaru, and its range now covers intercoolers, charge pipes, intakes, bypass valves, headers, up-pipes, catback exhausts, turbochargers, brake caliper kits, drivetrain mounts and titanium engine bay parts for the WRX, STI, Forester XT, Legacy GT, Ascent and BRZ, along with the Toyota 86 and GR86. GrimmSpeed engineers and manufactures as much of that range as it can in-house, and its front mount intercoolers are welded and inspected by hand in the USA.

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
