Do the GiroDisc Front Rotors for 8S fit the earlier TT RS?

No. The GiroDisc Front Rotors for 8S are made for the second-generation TT RS, chassis code 8S. The earlier 8J TT RS takes the GiroDisc A1-152 front rotor instead, so check the chassis code on the car before ordering to be sure the right part arrives.

How much lighter are the GiroDisc front rotors on an 8S TT RS?

GiroDisc weighs its front assembly at about 22.0 lb against 27.4 lb for the stock disc, a saving of about 5.4 lb per corner. Because that mass is both rotating and unsprung, the car accelerates and the suspension responds a little more freely.

Will the TT RS brake balance change with GiroDisc front rotors?

No. The rotor is a direct replacement that uses the original calipers, so the brake bias and ABS efficiency Audi engineered are kept. A big brake kit changes rotor and caliper size, which is where balance problems tend to come from.

Which rings are used to renew the 8S TT RS front rotors?

GiroDisc D1-179 rings, listed at 370x34mm, bolt to the existing aluminum hats once the originals reach the minimum thickness marked on the hat and ring edge. They are sold in pairs with new hardware and fit GiroDisc hats only, not factory or other brand hats.

What holds the ring to the hat on the TT RS front rotor?

Ten high-strength alloy steel drive pins, made by GiroDisc and cadmium plated against corrosion, carry the braking load while letting the ring float. Grade 12 cap screws with hardened washers secure them, and anti-noise spring washers stop the cold rattle of floating rotors.

Description

GiroDisc Front Rotors for 8S Audi TT RS

GiroDisc’s Front Rotors for 8S Audi TT RS take 5.4 lb off each front corner: GiroDisc weighs them at about 22.0 lb against 27.4 lb for the factory disc. They are a direct replacement with no modifications and work with the original calipers, which makes them a natural first upgrade for a TT RS owner who has started doing track days and wants the front end to feel lighter without changing the brake system.

Design and Performance

The Front Rotors for 8S TT RS pair a cast iron ring with a 6061-T6 aluminum hat, joined by 10 cadmium-plated alloy steel drive pins and grade 12 cap screws with hardened washers. Curved vanes pump air outward through the disc, and spring washers on the pins let the ring expand with heat while staying quiet when cold.

About 22.0 lb per rotor versus 27.4 lb for the factory part, per GiroDisc
Direct replacement with the factory TT RS calipers
10 high-strength alloy steel drive pins

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
