What does the Side Splitter Kit for A90 do?

The Side Splitter Kit for A90 reduces lift by stopping high-pressure air at the sides of the Supra from spilling under the car. A horizontal member on each piece does the work, and Verus Engineering notes the benefit is greatest in yaw, while turning, which is when the spillage is most pronounced. The result is more downforce through corners.

Is carbon polyweave tougher than carbon fiber?

Yes, against impacts. Verus Engineering says carbon polyweave, a carbon thermoplastic, withstands knocks much better than carbon fiber because it is not brittle, while keeping the look and strength of carbon. It also avoids the bending of aluminum and the cracking of ABS, which matters on a part that runs close to the road along the side of the car.

How do the side splitters work with the factory bodywork?

Verus Engineering designed them to flow with the factory side splitters of the A90, so they read as an extension of the original styling and not as a separate add-on. Each side adds a horizontal member that controls airflow toward the underbody, and the kit includes left and right units plus all the stainless hardware needed for the install.

How much difference do side splitters make?

Verus Engineering describes them as a bump in downforce, focused on cornering. They reduce lift in yaw more than in a straight line, so the gain shows through fast turns on track and far less on the highway. As with any aero part the effect grows with speed, and Verus also credits them with better overall efficiency and lower lap times.

Are the Verus side splitters made in the USA?

Yes. Verus Engineering manufactures the Carbon Polyweave Side Splitter Kit in the U.S.A. and fits it with stainless hardware throughout. The kit contains a left-hand and a right-hand splitter and the hardware for installation, and Verus publishes an install manual and an install video that take an owner through the process on a Mk5 Supra.

Description

Verus Engineering Carbon Polyweave Side Splitter Kit for A90 Toyota GR Supra

Verus Engineering’s Carbon Polyweave Side Splitter Kit for A90 Toyota GR Supra adds a horizontal member along each side of the car that keeps high-pressure air from spilling underneath, where it would generate lift. Verus shaped the pieces to flow with the factory side splitters and says the reduction in lift shows most in yaw, while the car is turning, more than on a straight. They give a splitter-equipped Supra a finished look and a bump in cornering downforce; on their own they are a modest, targeted change.

Material

Carbon polyweave is a carbon thermoplastic that pairs the exotic look and strength of carbon with the durability of plastic, and Verus says it withstands impacts far better than carbon fiber. It will not grab and bend like aluminum or crack like carbon and ABS, resists abrasion and stays stiff, and it is the same material raced in IndyCar, NASCAR and Formula 1. Verus makes the side splitters in the U.S.A. and supplies stainless hardware.

Features

Horizontal member limits high-pressure air reaching the underbody
Reduces lift, with the strongest effect in yaw
Improves overall aerodynamic efficiency

About Verus Engineering

Verus Engineering designs aerodynamic and performance parts in Indianapolis, Indiana. Two engineers founded it in late 2014 as Velox Motorsports and renamed it in 2017 after a trademark dispute; verus is Latin for true or complete. Each design starts from a 3D scan of the car, is developed with CFD and finite element analysis and is validated on track, across more than 20 platforms from the GR86 to the C8 Corvette.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
