COBB Tuning Catted Downpipe
The COBB Tuning GESi Catted 3″ Downpipe initiates with a CAD-designed cast bellmouth, ensuring a seamless blend of air exiting the turbocharger’s turbine housing to minimize turbulence, thus preventing excessive back-pressure when exhaust gases from the wastegate join those flowing through the turbine. The cast housing is adorned with a COBB logo and auxiliary O2 bung for those interested in installing a wideband sensor early in the exhaust path. A welded bracket utilizes the factory hard mount near the transmission to reduce stress on the turbocharger mounting bolts and studs. Corrosion-resistant and mandrel-bent 3″ 304 stainless steel tubing guides exhaust gases downstream into a COBB-exclusive GESi 300-cell high-flow catalytic converter, with a second O2 bung located directly after the catalytic converter for use by the OEM Rear O2 sensor. A CAD-designed, cast 304 stainless steel flange completes the tail section of the downpipe, reinforced to minimize warping during assembly. The inclusion of a stainless adapter flange and MLS gasket allows for a direct fit with the factory exhaust or COBB cat-back exhaust using the OEM donut gasket, with COBB proprietary shoulder nuts included to facilitate installation of the factory spring bolts.
