What does the VF TCU Software for Lamborghini Gallardo do?

The VF Engineering TCU Software for Lamborghini Gallardo models recalibrates the e-gear transmission control unit. VF targets faster gear changes with less lag, smoother transitions between gears and more predictable power delivery, so the car shifts more cleanly both when pressed and in traffic.

Does the TCU software fit manual Gallardos?

No. The calibration is written for the e-gear automated manual, which has its own transmission control unit. A six-speed manual Gallardo has no e-gear unit to recalibrate, so the VF Engineering ECU software is the relevant upgrade for those cars instead.

Which model years are covered?

VF Engineering lists the TCU software for 2009-2013 Gallardo models with the 5.2 liter V10 and e-gear. The earlier 2004-2008 cars with the 5.0 liter engine are not covered by this calibration, so the build year should be checked before ordering.

Can the factory gearbox calibration be restored?

Yes. VF supplies the calibration as an end-user programmable package written through the OBDII port and states that the factory calibration can be restored from the same port at any time. Nothing physical is changed on the car, so returning to stock leaves no trace.

Should the TCU software be paired with the ECU software?

It works on its own, but the two are designed as companions. The ECU software changes how the V10 delivers its power and the TCU software changes how the e-gear handles it, so owners who want the full effect usually install both together.

Description

VF Engineering Performance TCU Software for Lamborghini Gallardo (2009-2013)

VF Engineering’s Performance TCU Software for Lamborghini Gallardo reworks the control unit behind the e-gear automated manual on 2009-2013 cars, the part of the Gallardo owners most often wish behaved differently. The single-clutch e-gear is quick when pressed and can feel abrupt at low speed, and VF’s calibration targets both ends: faster gear changes with less lag, and smoother transitions between gears so power arrives more predictably. It leaves engine output untouched. Paired with VF’s engine calibration for the same car, it is the most complete software update VF offers for the later Gallardo.

Features

Faster e-gear gear changes with less lag
Smoother transitions between gears
More predictable power delivery
End-user programmable through the OBDII port
Factory calibration can be restored at any time
No hardware changes to the gearbox

Applications

Lamborghini Gallardo: 2009-2013 | 5.2L V10 with e-gear

Notes

This TCU Software for Lamborghini Gallardo models applies to cars with the e-gear transmission, not the manual
The gearbox calibration does not change engine output
For the engine, see the VF Engineering Performance ECU Software for Lamborghini Gallardo

About VF Engineering

VF Engineering designs supercharger and turbocharger systems, titanium exhausts and ECU and TCU calibrations from a 15,000 sq ft facility in Anaheim, Orange County, California, where it has been based for nearly two decades. Every calibration is developed in house on the company’s own Mustang AWD 500 chassis dyno, ECU boards are handled in a dedicated clean room, and new parts start in an R&D room equipped with a rapid prototyper. VF reports that more than 93 percent of its supercharger systems are still running after years of hard use, many on their second or third owner, and its engineers carry the testing discipline of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series into every road calibration.

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
