Which STI models does it fit?

TEIN built the kit only for type E and later cars, from June 2004 on, with the 5-114.3 bolt pattern. In the US that covers the 2005 to 2007 GDF Impreza WRX STI, and in Japan the GDB from type E onward. Earlier cars on another bolt pattern are not covered.

Are springs included with the Mono Sport Coilovers for GDB?

Yes. The kit includes four TEIN springs, 9.0 kgf/mm (504 lbs/in) at the front and 7.0 kgf/mm (392 lbs/in) at the rear, each 200 mm long with a 70 mm inner diameter. They sit on wrought aluminium seats with low-friction resin thrust washers.

How low can the STI go?

For 2006 and 2007 US cars, TEIN recommends 1.4 to 2.2 inches lower at the front and 0.4 to 1.2 inches lower at the rear. The full range runs from 3.8 inches lower to 0.4 inches above stock at the front, and 3.7 lower to 1.6 above at the rear.

How does the kit cope with rough streets?

The setting behind the TEIN Mono Sport Coilovers for GDB takes absorbency on uneven streets into account, alongside reduced roll and calmer limit behaviour. Full-length adjustment means lowering the car changes the ride very little, and the 16-level knob can be turned softer for daily use.

Can camber be adjusted?

Yes, at the front only. The front pillow ball upper mounts are camber adjustable, while the rear of the car keeps reinforced rubber upper mounts for this application. TEIN also lists the kit as EDFC compatible, so damping can move to an optional in-cabin controller.

Description

TEIN Mono Sport Coilovers for GDB / GDF Subaru Impreza WRX STI (5-114.3 PCD)

TEIN’s Mono Sport Coilovers for GDB and GDF Subaru Impreza WRX STI keep the stability the car already has at high speed while trimming body roll and settling it at the limit, so it holds a cornering line with more control. TEIN also weighed bump absorption on uneven streets into the setting. The kit covers only 5-114.3 cars from type E onward, built from June 2004. It suits a road STI with occasional track days; frequent circuit use points toward Mono Racing.

Damper Construction

TEIN builds each damper around a high-strength STKM13C steel shell with ZTP coating, and the struts use the Upright Strong Tube, a triple-tube structure TEIN describes as a first for mass-production shock absorbers. Full-length bodies set ride height by case length, leaving stroke and spring preload alone. Final assembly happens in a clean room with air showers, and the dampers can be overhauled or revalved later.

Features

Mono-tube dampers keep oil and gas in fully separate chambers
16-level damping, compression and rebound together, via ADVANCE M.S.V.
Thick ribbed knuckle brackets with a conical spring washer against loosening
Model-specific brackets for the brake hose and ABS sensor
Adjusting wrench fits a 12.7 mm (1/2 in) square drive torque wrench
EDFC compatible, with 32 levels on EDFC and 64 on EDFC ACTIVE PRO

About TEIN

TEIN was founded in Yokohama, Japan, in 1985 by former rally mechanic Hakaru Ichino, joined soon after by driver Yoshio Fujimoto. The team reached the World Rally Championship in 1989, and in 1995 Fujimoto won the Safari Rally in a Toyota Celica GT-FOUR, the first Japanese driver to do so. TEIN launched its own dampers in 1990 and came to supply around 80 percent of the dampers in the N1 Taikyu endurance series. TEIN USA has served the Americas from Downey, California, since 2001.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. In short, prices may change without notice. It is always advised to give us a call prior to placing your order online to confirm availability and to confirm current pricing.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
