Does the Secondary Breather Kit for R35 work without the GT1R separator?

No. The T1 Secondary Breather Kit for R35 is designed around the GT1R Air/Oil Separator, which vents to the catch can instead of back through the turbo inlets. The line kit option adapts an existing GT1R separator to the can. A car without the GT1R separator needs it first, and it is sold as a separate kit.

When does an R35 need a secondary breather?

When boost is high enough that the volume of air moving through the crankcase overwhelms the separator. T1 Race Development developed the kit for heavily boosted VR38DETT engines, where even its two-stage separator cannot return all of the flow on its own. Most street cars on moderate boost are well served by the separator alone.

Does the secondary breather bolt on?

Not entirely. The catch can mounts using the factory front bumper beam, and the can and beam are welded together. It works with bumpers from every R35 model year but takes the place of the factory foam bumper support, so plan for fabrication work and choose a shop comfortable welding the beam before installation.

How is the GT1R secondary breather drained?

A drain line runs from the can into the cavity between the front bumper and the driver-side fender well. T1 Race Development notes a few simple ways to arrange that line so it can be reached quickly, which keeps emptying the can a short job rather than a reason to remove the bumper cover.

What is the difference between the two options?

The line kit option adds the lines that connect an existing GT1R Air/Oil Separator to the catch can, for a complete installation from one order. The catch can only option suits owners who already have suitable plumbing or prefer to make their own. Both options use the same can and the same bumper beam mounting.

Description

T1 Race Development GT1R Secondary Breather Kit for R35 Nissan GT-R

T1 Race Development’s GT1R Secondary Breather Kit for R35 Nissan GT-R is for the engines that outgrow a separator. At extreme boost, the sheer volume of air moving through the crankcase can overwhelm even T1’s own two-stage GT1R Air/Oil Separator, and sending that vapor back through the turbo inlets stops making sense. This kit gives the separator somewhere else to vent: a catch can at the front of the car, plumbed to the separator and drained from below, so the intake stays clean on the biggest builds.

Installation

The catch can mounts on the factory front bumper beam, and the two are welded together, so this is a fabrication job rather than a bolt-on. It suits bumpers from every model year but takes the place of the factory foam bumper support. The drain line runs into the cavity between the front bumper and the driver-side fender well, and T1 suggests a few easy ways to arrange it for quick access when the can needs emptying.

Notes

The Secondary Breather Kit for R35 works with the GT1R Air/Oil Separator, which is sold separately: T1 Race Development GT1R Air/Oil Separator Kit (GT1R AOS)
The can is welded to the factory bumper beam and replaces the factory foam bumper support
Choose the line kit for a complete installation, or the catch can only for owners supplying their own plumbing

About T1 Race Development

T1 Race Development was founded in Texas in 2005 by Tony Palo, whose 2000 Acura Integra GSR became the first eight-second front-wheel-drive street car before the shop turned its attention to the Nissan GT-R. T1 went on to become the first to exceed 230 mph in the half mile in a GT-R and the first to make 2,400 whp from the VR38DETT, and it now develops engines, drivetrain parts and complete builds for the R35 GT-R, Lamborghini Huracan and Audi R8.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
