How loud is the Sports Muffler Kit for FC1?

Spoon recorded 85 dB in the close-proximity test and 74 dB in the acceleration test for Japanese JQR certification. The Sports Muffler Kit for FC1 uses a street silencer rather than the louder N1 type, so the note stays restrained at cruise and grows clearer as the revs rise. It suits a sedan used daily.

Was the exhaust designed for the CVT?

Yes. Spoon developed the kit specifically around the pairing of the L15B turbo and the CVT, which builds boost from low rpm and relies on that early torque. The goal was to keep the strong low and mid-range response the transmission depends on while adding output higher in the rev range.

Will the system suit a car with an ECU tune?

Yes. Spoon fitted a 60 mm front pipe so the kit can handle the extra exhaust flow of a boost increase through ECU tuning, and the 60 mm stainless main pipe matches it. Spoon quotes no power figure for the kit, either stock or tuned, so BA does not quote a gain.

Does it fit the Civic hatchback?

No. This kit is registered for the FC1 sedan only, and its tail silencer and rear layout were styled for the sedan body. Spoon sells a separate N1 Muffler Kit for the FK7 hatchback, which uses twin bullet silencers and a different set of pipes suited to that car.

Is professional installation a good idea?

Yes. The kit replaces the front pipe and the main muffler, the muffler alone weighs 21.0 kg, and the system ships in a carton measuring 143 x 29 x 92 cm. A shop with a lift can support the long sections while hangers are aligned and the tail silencer is centred in the bumper opening.

Description

Spoon Sports Sports Muffler Kit for FC1 Honda Civic

The Spoon Sports Sports Muffler Kit for FC1 Honda Civic sedan was shaped around the way the 1.5L L15B turbo and CVT deliver their performance, with strong torque at low and middle revs and boost that arrives early. Spoon wanted to keep all of that while letting the engine pull harder near the top, so the main pipe is 60 mm SUS304 stainless steel and a matching 60 mm front pipe is part of the kit, sized for the extra flow of an ECU boost increase. At the back sits a Spoon street silencer, a design long associated with the company, chosen so the sound stays refined and the rear of the car keeps the tidy look of a sedan. Japanese JQR certification recorded 85 dB close-proximity and 74 dB acceleration noise, quieter at close range than any Spoon N1 kit for the later Civic hatchbacks. This is the exhaust for an FC1 driven every day by someone who wants better breathing and a mature note; a driver chasing an aggressive sound will find it too reserved.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
