Will the Rear Adjusting Plate for GK5 fit a US Fit?

Yes, once the car has rear disc brakes. The Rear Adjusting Plate for GK5 replaces the factory disc caliper mounting bracket, and Go Tuning states that US-market GK5 cars need the Honda rear disc brake conversion installed first. Budget for those parts and the extra labour when planning the job.

Which version should I choose, Street or Race?

Choose by ride height. Street is meant for a car lowered 20 to 30 mm below stock and leaves camber alone while setting rear toe to zero. Race is intended only for competition cars lowered 40 to 50 mm, and it adds a full degree of negative camber at the rear.

Why does a lowered GK5 understeer more?

The rear torsion beam gains toe-in as the body drops, and the Fit has no way to adjust it. Extra rear toe-in on a front-drive car raises rear grip too far, so the nose runs wide in corners. Bringing toe back to zero frees the rear to help the car rotate.

Do the plates change braking?

Spoon says yes, in a helpful way. The plates are thicker than the factory bracket at the caliper support, which stiffens the hub mounting face. Spoon found that this lets the ABS step in more smoothly and accurately during hard braking, a detail that matters on track.

Is an alignment needed after fitting?

Yes. The plates change the angle of the rear hub, so the car should go on an alignment rack once they are in place and the ride height is final. Front toe and camber are worth setting at the same visit so the car balances properly from end to end.

Description

Spoon Sports Rear Adjusting Plate for GK5 Honda Fit

The Spoon Sports Rear Adjusting Plate for GK5 Honda Fit corrects a problem every lowered third-generation Fit shares. Its rear torsion beam offers no camber or toe adjustment at all, so as the car comes down the rear wheels pick up a large amount of toe-in. On a front-drive car that gives the rear axle too much grip, and the result is understeer that dulls turn-in. Spoon tested plate geometry against ride height and produced two versions: Street, for light-tune cars sitting 20 to 30 mm below stock, and Race, for cars dropped 40 to 50 mm. Each plate takes the place of the factory caliper mounting bracket, changing the angle of the hub itself. For a Fit on stock springs it changes little; on a lowered car it is the only way to put the rear alignment back where Spoon wants it.

Features

Two versions matched to how far the car has been lowered
Street plates take rear toe-in to zero with camber unchanged
Race plates add negative camber for a car built for the circuit
S50C high-strength steel construction
Thicker caliper support stiffens the hub mounting face
Steadier ABS behaviour under hard braking, per Spoon

Specifications

Notes

Street suits a GK5 lowered 20 to 30 mm; Race is a competition part for cars lowered 40 to 50 mm
Go Tuning states that US-market GK5 Fits need a rear disc brake conversion before the Rear Adjusting Plate for GK5 can be fitted, because the plate replaces the disc caliper bracket
Sold as a set for the rear axle; brakes, hubs and the disc conversion parts are not included
A four-wheel alignment is needed after installation

About Spoon Sports

Spoon Sports was founded in 1988 in Suginami, Tokyo, by Tatsuru Ichishima, a former Honda race car tester and driver, with backing from Honda and Mugen. The company has raced Hondas from its first season, when Ichishima’s own Civic became the first Civic to enter the Japan Touring Car Championship, and its Type One workshop, opened in 2001, services and tunes the cars its parts are developed on. Spoon builds engine, drivetrain, exhaust, chassis and aero parts for Honda models and proves them on circuits and in endurance racing, including the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
