Which cars need a new rotor with the Monoblock Caliper Set for EK9?

The EK9, the DC2 and the CL7 need the larger Spoon front rotor, which measures 300 mm across and 26 mm thick and is sold separately. Go Tuning names those three for the Monoblock Caliper Set for EK9 and lists no rotor requirement for the FN2 or the ZF1 CR-Z.

What pads does the caliper take?

It takes the S2000 factory front pad shape and size, and Go Tuning states that S2000 OEM-sized pads must be used. That gives a wide choice of street and racing compounds from many pad makers. Pads are not part of the set, so order a set that suits how the car is driven.

Does the set fit a US Acura Integra?

Spoon lists the set for the 1998-on JDM Integra Type R, whose front hub and brake specification is not the same across every US Acura Integra. US owners should confirm the specification of their car with BA before ordering, so the caliper, brackets and the larger rotor all match.

Will it work with the ABS?

Yes. Go Tuning states that the set is designed to work with the factory ABS brake system, and it ships with mounting brackets and hardware. Fitting is a caliper swap and fluid bleed, plus the rotor change on the EK9, DC2 and CL7.

Will the calipers clear my wheels?

Not always. An opposed caliper is wider than the factory sliding caliper because it has pistons on the outer face as well. Go Tuning asks owners to check wheel and fender clearance first, and a spacer that cures contact can push the tire past the fender, so measure before ordering.

Description

Spoon Sports Monoblock Caliper Set for EK9 / FN2 Honda Civic Type R, DC2 Integra Type R, ZF1 CR-Z and CL7 Accord Euro R

The Spoon Sports Monoblock Caliper Set for EK9 Civic Type R is the FWD version of the Spoon one-piece four-piston caliper, and Go Tuning lists it for the 1998-specification DC2 Integra Type R, the FN2 Civic Type R, the ZF1 CR-Z and the CL7 Accord Euro R as well. One caliper spans five front-drive Hondas because Spoon builds it around the S2000 front pad and rotors of up to 300 mm by 26 mm. Reducing assembly hardware gives each caliper high rigidity and a weight of 2.6 kg, which Go Tuning says trims unsprung mass for faster suspension response. Four opposing pistons with differential bores deliver smooth, consistent braking and reduce pad taper. For the EK9, DC2 and CL7, the larger rotor is part of the plan and is sold separately, so budget for it. The set rewards an owner who drives a light, fast Honda on circuits.

About Spoon Sports

Spoon Sports was founded in 1988 in Suginami, Tokyo, by Tatsuru Ichishima, a former Honda race car tester and driver, with backing from Honda and Mugen. The company has raced Hondas from its first season, when Ichishima’s own Civic became the first Civic to enter the Japan Touring Car Championship, and its Type One workshop, opened in 2001, services and tunes the cars its parts are developed on. Spoon builds engine, drivetrain, exhaust, chassis and aero parts for Honda models and proves them on circuits and in endurance racing, including the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
