Is the LSD Differential Assembly for AP2 right for a 2004 US S2000?

Yes. Go Tuning, the sole US distributor for Spoon, sells the LSD Differential Assembly for AP2 for 2004 through 2009 model year US cars, which covers the early F22C1 cars as well as the later ones. In Japan, Spoon registers it for the AP2 with the F22C, built from late 2005 to 2009.

What is the advantage over fitting a final gear and LSD separately?

The separate route means opening the factory differential, swapping the gear and LSD, then setting mesh and bearing preload, which few shops do well. This assembly arrives with that work completed and checked by Spoon on a new Honda unit. The factory differential is kept whole, which is useful for returning the car to stock later.

Will the shorter gearing raise highway engine speed?

Yes. With 4.44 replacing the factory 4.10, the engine turns about 8 percent faster at any road speed in any gear. Owners who drive long distances notice it at a cruise, while those who mainly drive on track or winding roads tend to value the stronger pull in every gear far more.

What does the LSD add?

A limited-slip differential shares drive between the two rear tires instead of letting the lightly loaded inside tire spin as the car exits a corner. On an AP2 with grippy tires and the stronger pull of the 4.44 gear, that keeps power going to the road and makes the rear of the car more predictable under throttle.

What should be done at installation?

Have a shop with a lift swap the complete unit, reconnect the axles and propeller shaft, and fill with fluid suited to a limited-slip unit. At a listed 33 kg the assembly is heavy enough that a transmission jack helps. A short, gentle drive afterwards lets the installer check for leaks and noise before hard use.

Description

Spoon Sports LSD Differential Assembly for AP2 Honda S2000 with 4.44 Final Gear

Spoon Sports’ LSD Differential Assembly for AP2 Honda S2000 takes the guesswork out of re-gearing the 2.2-litre car. Spoon starts from a brand new Honda differential, installs its own limited-slip unit and 4.44 final gear, and hands the job to technicians who clean, measure and set up every assembly before it is closed. The F22C already pulls harder in the midrange than the 2.0-litre engine it replaced, and the shorter final drive builds on that: with 4.44 in place of the factory 4.10, every gear multiplies torque by about 8 percent more. The LSD then shares that drive between the rear tires as the car unwinds from a corner. Each unit is built to order and lists at 33 kg. It makes the most sense for an AP2 that already wears sticky tires and sees lapping days; on a weekend touring car, the extra revs at a cruise may outweigh the sharper response.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
