Does the Driveshaft Set for AP1 also fit the AP2?

Yes. Spoon registers the Driveshaft Set for AP1 for both generations, from the 1999 F20C cars through the 2009 F22C cars, with the 6-speed manual that every S2000 used. That includes US 2004 and 2005 cars with the F22C1, so one part number covers any S2000 regardless of year.

Are Spoon driveshafts stronger than stock?

No, not in the sense of a thicker shaft, and Spoon argues that is not the point. Most driveshaft failures start when scratches inside a joint cause it to catch and overheat until the grease boils and the joint seizes. Spoon polishes and balances OEM-based parts so the joints run cooler and freer, which is where the durability gain comes from.

What changed with the November 2015 update?

Spoon revised the specification of the outboard boots on the S2000 set in November 2015. Spoon does not detail the change, but every set built since then carries the updated boot. Because each set is made to order, a new set ordered today is built to the current specification rather than drawn from old stock.

Who benefits most from the set?

S2000 owners running sticky tires, an LSD, a shorter final drive or regular launches put the most strain through the rear joints, and they gain the most from smoother, cooler-running shafts. A car kept on the street with factory tires and gentle driving will seldom stress the factory shafts enough to justify the cost.

How long does a set take to arrive?

Spoon builds the set to order, and its factory lead time is three to four weeks before the parts leave Japan, with transit to the US on top. The set is packed in a box of 90 x 35 x 20 cm and lists at 20 kg. Ordering ahead of a planned service makes the wait painless.

Description

Spoon Sports Driveshaft Set for AP1 / AP2 Honda S2000

The Spoon Sports Driveshaft Set for AP1 / AP2 Honda S2000 starts from Spoon’s view that a failed driveshaft is rarely a weak one. On a rear-drive roadster the shafts take violent inputs from hard launches, curbs and sudden grip, and once the sliding surfaces inside a joint are scratched they begin to catch, building heat until the grease nears boiling point and the joint seizes. A thicker bar does nothing about that. Spoon works on the inside instead, polishing OEM-based joints and balancing each shaft, which Go Tuning credits with better durability and smoother operation. One set covers every S2000 Spoon registers, from the first F20C cars of 1999 to the last F22C cars of 2009, and Spoon revised the outboard boot specification in November 2015. Listed at 20 kg, it suits an S2000 on sticky tires, an LSD or launch-heavy use; a car driven gently on the street will rarely tax the factory shafts.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
