Can I still use the soft top with the 4-Point Roll Cage for AP1?

Yes. Spoon designed the 4-Point Roll Cage for AP1 and AP2 to work with the factory soft top, including the version with a glass rear window, and with a hardtop. With the glass window, Spoon requires roll bar padding on the bar because the glass passes close to it when the roof moves.

Is roll bar padding included?

No padding is listed as part of the cage. Spoon makes padding mandatory on cars with the glass-window soft top, since the glass could be damaged by contact with bare tubing while opening or closing the roof, so buy suitable padding before the installation is complete.

Does it fit the AP2 as well as the AP1?

Yes. Spoon registers the 4-point cage for every AP1 from 1999 and every AP2 through 2009, covering both the 2.0L and 2.2L cars. That includes US S2000s from 2000 to 2009, so one part number serves the whole production run.

Is it suitable for street use?

Yes. Spoon designed it for circuit driving, and Go Tuning describes it as suitable for the circuit or the street. Because the roof still works and the dashboard is not cut, the car remains usable every day, although a cage in the cabin means helmet-free occupants should take care around the tubing.

Spoon lists the cage at 20.5 kg, and it ships in a box measuring 140 x 22 x 125 cm. The weight comes from the 40 mm steel tubing, which gives the bar its strength. Plan on two people to handle it and fit it.

Description

Spoon Sports 4-Point Roll Cage for AP1 / AP2 Honda S2000

The Spoon Sports 4-Point Roll Cage for AP1 Honda S2000 gives the car proper protection for circuit driving without taking away what makes it a roadster. Spoon designed it to work with the factory soft top, including the later top with a glass rear window, as well as with a hardtop, so the car can still be driven open between track days. It is made from 40 mm diameter steel tubing and weighs 20.5 kg. Spoon sets one firm condition. With the glass-window top, clearance between the glass and the bar is tight as the roof opens and closes, so roll bar padding must be wrapped around the bar to protect the glass. Registered for every AP1 and AP2, it suits an owner who wants track safety and still values the top-down drive home; a dedicated race car with a hardtop is better served by the 7-point design.

Design and Development

A four-point layout keeps the structure behind the seats, which is what allows the roof to fold as normal and leaves the dashboard untouched. Spoon intends it for circuit work, and Go Tuning notes it is equally usable on the street. Keeping the tubing at 40 mm diameter matches the other Spoon S2000 cage, so the bar is substantial without being out of proportion in the cabin.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
