Corner-balancing an M2, M3, or M4 without adjustable endlinks is a compromise before the car even rolls off the setup pad. The factory endlinks are fixed length and rubber-bushed; two design attributes that create problems as soon as the car is set up for performance driving. Fixed length means any change in ride height or corner weight introduces preload into the front sway bar, giving the bar a resting load that shifts the car’s roll balance without the driver asking for it. Rubber bushings mean part of the sway bar’s lateral force is absorbed at the endlink rather than transmitted to the chassis; blunting the effect of whatever bar is installed. The SPL Parts FE F8X removes both limitations from the front suspension equation. Teflon-lined FK 1/2-inch bearings at the strut mount provide the highest load capacity available for this application and transmit sway bar force directly without rubber deflection. Heat-treated Chromoly High Misalignment Studs at the bar connection provide 65 degrees of articulation, the functional range needed when using an aftermarket sway bar across its full range of adjustment holes; standard studs bind at non-factory angles, reducing the bar’s effectiveness and accelerating stud wear. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer.
