What is the difference between the SPL FE E9X and the SPL FE E9M, and which one do I need?

The FE E9X is for non-M E8X and E9X models; the 128i, 135i, 328i, 335i, and 335d. The FE E9M is for M chassis E8X and E9X models; the 1M, M3, and M3 GTS; as well as the newer G2X, G42, and G8X platforms. The two kits cover different length ranges because the M chassis has a different front strut geometry than the non-M. The FE E9X covers 10.4 to 11.9 inches; the FE E9M covers 12.9 to 14.4 inches. Ordering the wrong version for your chassis will result in an endlink that is the wrong length for your car.

How does the OEM length range of the FE E9X compare to the other BMW-specific SPL front endlink kits?

The SPL lineup covers four distinct BMW platform length ranges. The FE E46 covers 9.9 to 11.4 inches for the E46 and E85/E86 Z4. The FE E9X covers 10.4 to 11.9 inches for E8X and E9X non-M models. The non-M E8x and E9x BMWs sit on a front suspension architecture that responds well to stiffer aftermarket sway bars. The handling payoff is immediate on a well-set-up non-M platform. The limitation is the factory endlinks, which use rubber bushings that deflect under lateral load and absorb the stiffness the upgraded bar was supposed to deliver. The roll response the sway bar was rated for at the bench never fully reaches the chassis because the rubber gives before the bar does. The SPL Parts FE E9X removes that compliance from the connection. Teflon-lined FK 1/2-inch bearings replace the rubber at the strut mount, providing the highest load capacity available for this application and transferring sway bar force directly without deflection. Heat-treated Chromoly High Misalignment Studs at the sway bar end provide 65 degrees of articulation; the range needed to run an aftermarket sway bar across multiple adjustment hole positions without binding. Standard studs with limited articulation restrict movement at non-factory angles and wear prematurely; the 65-degree Chromoly studs prevent both at any hole position.

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse.
