SOUL Performance Sport Catalysts for 996 Porsche 911 Carrera / 4 / 4S / S

SOUL Performance Products’ Sport Catalytic Converters for the Porsche 996 Carrera replace the restrictive factory cats with high-flow HJS 200-cell units and a split-bank design that frees up power while giving the 3.4L flat-six a deeper, more aggressive voice. Instead of an X-pipe that can hollow out the tone, SOUL keeps the banks separated to add volume and character, delivering a fuller, almost air-cooled-inspired note with a hint of rasp, all while greatly reducing the chance of a check engine light when used as intended. Built in-house at SOUL’s Willow Grove, PA facility from thick-wall .065″ T304L stainless with smooth mandrel bends and heavy-duty flanges, each set is fixture-checked for precise fitment, supplied with new hardware, and comes in about 2 lb lighter than the factory components (15lb vs 13lb). Designed as a direct bolt-on for all 1999-2004 996 Carreras, these sport cats strike a sweet spot between flow, sound, and reliability, backed by SOUL’s renowned Lifetime Warranty on the piping and a 3-year warranty on the HJS cores for confident use on both street and track.

Development

• The factory 996 Carrera catalytic converters are quite restrictive, and upgrading them is a common modification. They took a fresh look at the exhaust design to try and create the best possible solution. Side-by-side sound comparisons with our split bank design and an X-pipe design revealed that an X-pipe lowers yields a hollower exhaust tone and cuts out desirable deeper frequencies on the 996, the difference is very noticeable. Separating the banks adds more volume and character, a more profound and fuller flat-six sound with a hint of rasp, almost air-cooled inspired exhaust note.

Construction

• Each set is assembled out of thick-wall 0.065″ T304L stainless steel and rigorously quality-checked in-house. Smooth mandrel bends and thick flanges ensure product longevity. Each set of catalytic converter pipes is tested in a fixture to ensure perfect fitment and then foam packed to ensure they arrive in perfect condition. New hardware is included for the cats to header flanges.
