Soul Performance Resonated Turn-Down Exhaust Tips for 991 Porsche 911 GT3 / GT3 RS / R

Across the United States and worldwide, sound restrictions are increasingly enforced at various racing tracks. GT3 / RS owners, whether with modified exhaust systems or even the factory exhaust, are facing challenges in meeting these stringent sound regulations. In response to this issue, SOUL introduces their Bolt-On Resonated Turn Down Exhaust Tips. These innovative tips provide a practical solution by effectively reducing sound levels by several decibels. Importantly, this sound reduction is achieved without significant power loss. Additionally, the installation of these tips is quick and hassle-free, allowing for easy swapping within minutes at the track.

Development & Testing

• Soul Performance responded to the requests of several customers participating in Lime Rock, Laguna Seca, Tremblant, and SCCA Autocross events by developing a specialized solution. Their team devised a replacement tip assembly that can be bolted onto either the factory center muffler or any aftermarket muffler/bypass compatible with the factory tip assemblies. Recognizing that simple turndown tips may not always provide sufficient noise reduction, Soul Performance took an additional step by incorporating straight-through race resonators into their turndown tip assembly.
• To ensure flexibility and ease of use, the turndown tips are secured to the resonator assemblies using v-band clamps. The inclusion of these clamps allows for convenient loosening of the tips at any time, enabling users to direct them away from sound recording equipment as needed. Unlike slip-on turndowns that may shift and settle on the exhaust piping after being subjected to heat cycles, the v-band clamps maintain a secure fit. The factory tip assembly can be swiftly removed in just a few minutes, requiring the removal of three nuts. This straightforward solution permits easy swapping of the tip assembly on and off at the track.
• This tailored solution has minimal impact on performance since the resonators do not restrict exhaust flow. With a minimum inner piping diameter of 61mm, it is comparable to the measurement of the factory center muffler’s exit holes, which typically range between 59-60mm.
• During their participation in SCCA Autocross events in Florida, Rad utilized stock headers and stock side mufflers, along with an aftermarket center muffler bypass. Upon testing, it was observed that at wide open throttle (WOT) and engine speeds exceeding 7000rpm, Rad experienced a noticeable drop of approximately 3-4 decibels (dB) compared to the factory exhaust tips.
• TRAKCAR, a member of Rennlist, successfully utilized the Soul Performance exhaust tips with their stock exhaust system to comply with stringent sound restrictions at the Bilster Berg circuit in Germany.

Construction

• The brackets undergo a laser cutting process and are meticulously hand finished to ensure precision and quality. V-band clamps are thoughtfully included for convenient mounting. As for the SOUL race resonators, they are constructed from high-quality stainless steel, exhibiting exceptional durability specifically engineered to withstand the rigors of track use.

• The sound produced by the exhaust system is influenced by various factors, and each measurement scenario is distinct, with variations in sound distance and angle. It is important to note that this product does not guarantee a specific level of sound reduction, as results can vary.
