The PRL Motorsports Wi-Fi Flex-Fuel / Ethanol Content Analyzer Kit enables wireless monitoring of ethanol content through any smart device and supports flex fuel with an optional 0.5-4.5V output for tuning devices. Its unique Patent Pending design integrates with the factory fuel line, reducing the risk of deterioration in alternative fuel lines and enhancing appearance. The kit connects to factory plugs / outputs for power and ECU communication, eliminating extra wiring, cutting, or interior cable routing. It includes all necessary hardware and brackets for easy installation, and can be fitted or removed quickly. The kit is compatible with Hondata and KTuner V1.2, both featuring Bluetooth, and the KTuner V2 LCD screen can display ethanol content. All components are designed to be ethanol compliant.

Factory ETFE Honda / Acura Fuel Hose

• The factory fuel line is made from an EPDM (fuel and oil resistant synthetic rubber) outer hose with an inner ETFE (a Teflon-like coating similar to PTFE) liner. This composition provides excellent resistance to various fuels, including those based on ethanol. Consequently, there is no need to “upgrade” or replace the factory fuel line assembly when it is used with this Ethanol Content Analyzer / Flex Fuel Kit, unless it is kinked or damaged.

Why Run Ethanol?

• With the rise in gasoline prices and the increasing demand for alternative fuels, ethanol, mainly sourced from corn, has emerged as a popular and economical fuel option. This fuel type is now widely available at most modern gas stations, and its advantages over gasoline are becoming well-known. Ethanol is recognized for burning cleaner and cooler and for its higher resistance to detonation. These properties make ethanol an affordable substitute for costly racing fuels like race gas or methanol, particularly in high compression, factory turbocharged vehicles. For example, E85 consists of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline, while E30 contains 30% ethanol and 70% gasoline, and so forth.

What is Flex Fuel?

• Essentially, “flex-fuel” refers to the ability of an internal combustion engine to use a combination of fuels, typically a blend of gasoline with either ethanol or methanol, which are stored together in the same fuel tank. Systems designed for Flex-Fuel employ an ethanol content analyzer to assess the ethanol percentage in the fuel system. They also include a converter that relays this information to the vehicle’s ECU (Engine Control Unit), allowing for immediate adjustments to accommodate different fuel mixtures.
