Does the Comp RS Cat-Back Exhaust include a front pipe?

No. MXP supplies the Comp RS as a cat back system that retains the factory front pipe, and sells its own front pipe for the FL5 as a separate part. The system includes the hardware and gaskets needed for its own sections and the dual 110mm tips.

Does it keep the factory exhaust valve?

Yes. MXP lists a functional exhaust valve in the factory location, so the valve keeps working with the drive modes and no extra wiring or controller is needed. That lets the car stay quieter in Comfort and open up in Sport and +R, as it does from the factory.

What does the B in MXCRFL5B mean?

The B marks the burnt tip version. The same Comp RS Cat-Back Exhaust without the letter, MXCRFL5, has polished stainless tips. Both use dual 110mm slant cut tips and the same 3 inch stainless piping, so the choice is purely about finish.

Will it make pops and crackles?

Not on its own. MXP states that crackle and pop effects need an aftermarket downpipe and a Hondata tune with crackle programming. The exhaust by itself does not create them, and no tune is needed simply to install the system on a car that keeps the factory front pipe and downpipe.

Is it going to drone on the highway?

MXP builds in a Helmholtz resonator specifically to reduce drone, tuned against the steady throttle hum that a louder exhaust can bring at cruising speed. MXP publishes no decibel figure, so treat any claim of zero drone with caution, but the resonator is there to deal with exactly that problem.

What comes in the box?

The Comp RS system with its dual 110mm burnt tips, plus the hardware and gaskets needed to fit it. The front pipe is not included, because the system retains the factory front pipe. It ships as one long box, so plan space for it when it arrives.

Description

MXP Comp RS Cat-Back Exhaust with Burnt Tips for FL5 Honda Civic Type R

MXP’s Comp RS Cat-Back Exhaust with Burnt Tips for FL5 Honda Civic Type R pairs a 3in mandrel-bent stainless system with a Helmholtz resonator added specifically to reduce drone, which is the FL5’s usual weak point once the factory exhaust comes off. The valve stays where Honda put it and keeps working, so the drive modes still govern how loud the car is. Two 110mm slant-cut tips with a burnt finish complete the system. MXP is the exhaust line of Mackin Industries in Santa Fe Springs, California, and has been developed in-house since 2007. It suits the owner who wants a louder, freer-flowing car to live with every day. The pops and crackle some buyers expect come from a tune and a downpipe, not from this system on its own.

Design and Performance

A Helmholtz resonator cancels a narrow band of frequency rather than simply adding packing, which is why MXP uses one here: it targets the steady-throttle hum that makes a louder exhaust tiring on a long drive. The piping and flanges are stainless and mandrel bent at a constant 3in, and the functional valve sits in the factory location so no extra wiring is involved. This system bolts up behind the factory front pipe, which it retains.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
