The McLaren 720s, equipped with a powerful 4.0L twin-turbo V8 engine producing 720 horsepower and achieving an impressive 0-60 time of 2.7 seconds, aims to disrupt the established supercar industry. With its exhilarating acceleration and exceptional handling, the 720s is a formidable force. However, considering the prevailing trend for turbo induction supercars, the 720s requires a sonic transformation. Kline’s primary design goal is to make the 720s roar like a true supercar should.

The Sound

• To achieve this, high-flow catalysts or racing pipes are employed to significantly increase the volume. Kline’s signature 1D CLR tight-radius X-pipe, expertly crafted from premium F1-grade Inconel 625 superalloy, raises the pitch to the level expected of a supercar. The utilization of Inconel not only reduces weight significantly but also adds a distinctive tonal quality that can only be achieved with Kline’s Inconel range.
• Customers have the option to choose a racing version for optimal sound and performance or select from 100 or 200 cell high-flow sports cats. The modular design of the cats section allows for rapid swapping with racing pipes, depending on the intended use.

Performance

• Replacing the factory catalysts with the 100 CPSI HJS race cats or racing pipes leads to a significant improvement in performance.

Stainless Steel

• Kline adheres to the industry standard of utilizing 304-grade stainless steel for exhaust manufacturing. This grade offers a well-balanced combination of moderate strength, thermochemical stability, cost-effectiveness, and ease of production, ensuring the construction of practical and durable exhaust systems. It is worth noting that while stainless steel has a density similar to regular steel, it is relatively heavier and possesses slightly lower tensile strength. Nevertheless, it meets the requirements for creating high-performance exhaust components capable of producing captivating exhaust notes.

Inconel

• For exceptional durability and heat resistance, Kline turns to the ultimate choice: Inconel 625, widely employed in the aerospace industry. This exceptional material finds extensive application in the manufacturing of critical components, including exhaust turbine blades for high-performance jet engines. Inconel is highly favored in Formula One exhaust systems and has been selected by manufacturers involved in prestigious hypercar projects such as the McLaren P1 and Aston Martin 177. The advantages of Inconel lie in its exceptional tensile strength and thermochemical stability. Comparable to titanium in terms of tensile strength, Inconel achieves an outstanding strength-to-weight ratio, enabling the utilization of thin sidewall materials while maintaining structural integrity. This facilitates the production of lightweight components that exhibit remarkable resistance to fatigue over extended periods. However, working with Inconel presents challenges due to its difficult machinability and specific welding requirements, demanding specialized skills and time-consuming techniques. Moreover, the unique properties and specialized manufacturing processes associated with Inconel contribute to its higher cost as a raw material.

Carbon Fiber

• Carbon fiber reinforced polymer boasts an extremely high tensile strength-to-weight ratio, surpassing that of all metals. This exceptional material allows for the creation of extremely lightweight components with exceptional tensile strength that can be molded into almost any desired shape. At Kline, we exclusively utilize aerospace and Formula 1-grade pre-preg carbon fiber, which is cured in an autoclave at high pressure and temperature. This meticulous process ensures that we achieve the lightest and strongest carbon fiber for the most extreme conditions.
