Does the Type-S Front Bumper for DC5 cars need reinforcing for track use?

Yes. The wing section of the under panel produces strong downforce, and an impact with the road can break it off at speed. The manufacturer asks owners of cars driven fast or on circuits to add their own reinforcement and fixings to the Type-S Front Bumper for DC5 cars.

Does it come painted?

No. The bumper arrives in black gelcoat FRP and must be painted, and paint is not included. On the FRP option the under panel is gelcoat FRP as well, while the Carbon option has a carbon FRP under panel that can stay unpainted. Have a body shop test-fit it before painting.

How much cooler will the engine run?

The manufacturer reports a coolant temperature roughly 10 degrees Celsius lower than with the stock bumper. That keeps the ECU from trimming power through its temperature correction during long sessions. Test conditions are not published, so results vary. The Type-S Front Bumper for DC5 cars works best with a healthy radiator.

Do I need the Early or Late Model version?

Early Model fits cars with the Japanese model codes DC5-100 to DC5-220, and Late Model fits DC5-230 cars from the facelift. US cars are not usually identified by those codes, so confirm the correct version with Bulletproof Automotive before you order.

Can the under panel be replaced if it is damaged?

Yes. The manufacturer offers the under panel as a repair part in carbon FRP and in FRP, so a scraped or cracked panel can be renewed without buying a whole new bumper. The repair panel fits only this bumper, not the stock one.

Description

J’s Racing Type-S Front Bumper for DC5 Honda Integra Type R and Acura RSX

J’s Racing’s Type-S Front Bumper for DC5 Integra Type R owners is built around one problem: as coolant temperature climbs, the ECU’s temperature correction pulls power from the K20A. The stock opening is so narrow that even a large radiator cannot do its job, so the Osaka tuner reshaped the opening to push air at the radiator and tightened the bottom and side clearances to strengthen the shroud effect. J’s puts the result at roughly 10 degrees Celsius cooler than stock. For a car that sees long, hard sessions, it is a cooling upgrade first.

Features

Opening shaped to drive air straight into the radiator
Tight bottom and side clearances boost the shroud effect
About 10 degrees Celsius lower coolant temperature than stock, by J’s figure
Helps prevent ECU power reduction from high coolant temperature
Replacement under panels available for repairs

What’s Included

Front bumper, FRP in black gelcoat
Front under panel, carbon FRP or FRP to match the option

Applications

Acura RSX Type S: DC5 | 2002-2006 | 2.0L K20A2
Honda Integra Type R: DC5 | 2001-2006 | 2.0L K20A

Notes

Options: Carbon pairs the bumper with a carbon FRP under panel and FRP with an FRP under panel; Early Model fits DC5-100 to DC5-220 and Late Model fits DC5-230
The bumper is gelcoat FRP and needs painting, which is not included
Side wings and carbon canards in the photos are sold separately
The under panel wing makes strong downforce and can break if it strikes the road, so cars driven fast or on circuits need extra reinforcement and fixing by the owner
J’s Racing accepts no claims or exchanges once the bumper has been installed
A damaged panel can be replaced with the Type-S Under Panel for the DC5, and the bumper is also part of the Type-S Aero Kit for the DC5
J’s Racing USA files the bumper under the Acura RSX; J’s Racing Japan built it for the DC5 Integra Type R
Each bumper is made after you order, and Bulletproof Automotive confirms the lead time and freight through J’s Racing USA

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
