Are hood pins or the aluminum net included?

No. The hood works with the factory hood catch, but the manufacturer recommends adding hood pins for sports driving, and those are not supplied. The aluminum net is an optional extra sold separately. Ask Bulletproof Automotive which net matches the Type-S before ordering one.

Does the Type-S Aero Hood for AP1 cars fit the AP2?

Yes. The Type-S Aero Hood for AP1 cars is listed for the 1999 to 2003 AP1 and the 2004 to 2009 AP2 in all three material options. It latches with the stock hood catch on both chassis, and the same hood pin advice applies to either car.

How much weight does it save?

The manufacturer quotes about 6.5kg for the FRP and the carbon and FRP versions, against roughly 7.3kg for the factory hood, a saving of around 0.8kg. No figure is published for the Full Carbon version, which uses carbon on both faces.

Which material should I pick?

FRP is the budget option and the version used as a Super Taikyu designated part, with FRP on both faces. Carbon and FRP shows carbon on top over an FRP underside. Full Carbon uses carbon cloth on both the top and the underside for the most finished look.

Does the FRP version need painting?

In most cases, yes. The FRP hood has an FRP top surface rather than visible carbon weave, so owners usually paint it to match the body. Paint is not included with any version, and the carbon hoods can be left with the weave on show.

Description

J’s Racing Type-S Aero Hood for AP1 / AP2 Honda S2000

J’s Racing’s Type-S Aero Hood for AP1 and AP2 S2000s uses a calculated shape to create turbulence over its top surface, and that low pressure pulls hot air out of the engine bay. The Osaka tuner reports a reliable drop in coolant and intake air temperatures compared with the factory hood. A two-layer structure keeps strength equal to stock, and the carbon versions are laid from a single piece of carbon cloth for a clean finish. The FRP version is a designated Super Taikyu part and, like the carbon and FRP hood, weighs about 6.5kg against roughly 7.3kg for the factory panel. It suits cars that run hot on track; a mild street car gains mostly the look.

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
