Is the under panel ready to bolt on?

No. Every panel needs fitting work to suit the individual car, and the manufacturer asks that installation be done by a professional shop with aero experience rather than at home. The carbon version also needs a clear coat and the FRP version needs paint. The front bumper, air intake and brake duct are separate purchases.

Why does the Type-GT Under Panel for AP1 cars need extra mounting?

The front wing section of the Type-GT Under Panel for AP1 and AP2 cars generates large downforce, and contact with the road can break it while driving. The manufacturer requires the installer to add retention, such as additional aluminum stays spread across the lower edge or strong supports suspending it from above.

Should I choose carbon or FRP?

The carbon panel comes ready for a clear coat so the weave shows after fitting. The FRP panel arrives in black gelcoat and is meant to be painted. Both share the same shape and purpose, so the choice comes down to finish and budget, and the FRP panel is the lower priced option.

Will it fit a car without the Type-GT body?

No. It is designed for the lower edge of the Type-GT front bumper and is sold as a repair part for the Type-GT wide body aero system. The manufacturer states it cannot be fitted to a standard body by itself, so a stock front bumper is not an option.

How does the panel create downforce?

By guiding the air that passes under the nose, the panel speeds that flow up. Faster air under the car means lower pressure beneath it, which pulls the front toward the road. The same organizing effect reduces air resistance. No downforce or drag figures are published for this part.

Description

J’s Racing Type-GT Under Panel for AP1 / AP2 Honda S2000

J’s Racing’s Type-GT Under Panel for AP1 and AP2 S2000s is the front splitter section that mounts beneath the Type-GT front bumper, available in carbon or FRP. By organizing the air that runs under the nose, it lowers air resistance, and because straightened air moves faster, it also produces front downforce. The Osaka company sells it as a repair part for its Type-GT wide body aero system. It is a serious circuit component that needs professional fitting and secure extra mounting, so it is best matched to owners who already run the full Type-GT body and have a capable shop.

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
