Is the hub bearing included?

No. The price covers one hub assembly, and the old bearing cannot be reused, so a new hub bearing must be bought separately for each hub. Fitting requires a press. To do both front corners, order two assemblies and two new bearings, and have a shop with a press handle the work.

Which bolt option should I choose?

Choose standard bolts if your wheels and brakes are stock size. The 10mm and 20mm options add reinforced long bolts, already pressed in, that widen your wheel choice with big calipers or wide fenders. Check that the back face of your wheels clears the longer bolts first, because some designs will not.

What does induction hardening do to the Hardened Front Hub for EP3?

It heats and rapidly cools chosen areas of the steel hub, hardening the surface to raise wear resistance, fatigue strength and torsional strength. On the Hardened Front Hub for EP3, those areas and the depth were set from endurance racing feedback, since hardening the whole part does not improve durability.

Which cars is the hub designed for?

The hub is engineered for the 2001 to 2005 JDM EP3 Civic Type R with the K20A engine. It may not fit the US-market EP3 Civic Si, so confirm your model with Bulletproof Automotive before ordering and mention any big brake kit or wide fenders.

What size are the long hub bolts?

The long bolts are M12 x 1.5 with a 12.3mm spline diameter. The 10mm option is 53mm long overall and the 20mm option is 63mm, each made from chromium-molybdenum steel that the manufacturer says is stronger than the factory bolt material, so they suit circuit driving as well as the street.

Description

J’s Racing Hardened Front Hub for EP3 Honda Civic Type R

J’s Racing’s Hardened Front Hub for EP3 Civic Type R came out of the Osaka tuner’s endurance racing program, where front hubs on powerful front-drive cars wear out quickly. They carry drive loads all the time and soak up brake heat, so on a car running high-grip tires the factory hub can fail early. J’s Racing takes the genuine hub and induction hardens only the areas that need it, which raises its strength considerably. It comes with standard hub bolts or with reinforced long bolts already pressed in. It suits a hard-driven track EP3; a street car on ordinary tires is unlikely to need it.

Features

Genuine hub, induction hardened only where strength is needed
Hardening areas and depth developed from endurance racing feedback
Choice of standard bolts or reinforced bolts 10mm or 20mm longer
Long bolts arrive pressed in, so no bolt replacement work is needed
Longer bolts widen wheel choice with big brake calipers or wide fenders

Specifications

Notes

Price is for one hub assembly; order two for both front corners
Each hub needs a new hub bearing, sold separately, because the old bearing cannot be reused; fitting requires a press
Some wheels will not clear the longer hub bolts because of the shape of their back face, so check your wheels before ordering
Options: the 10mm and 20mm versions add reinforced long bolts already pressed in; Standard Hub Bolts does not
J’s Racing designs this part for the JDM EP3 Civic Type R with the K20A engine; it may not fit the US-market EP3 Civic Si
Use the specified torque and recheck the fasteners regularly, especially before circuit sessions
Hubs ship from Japan through J’s Racing USA; Bulletproof Automotive confirms availability and lead time per hub at order time

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
