How much lower will the Black Series Coilovers for DC2 cars sit?

The recommended drop for the Black Series Coilovers for DC2 cars is roughly 20 to 40mm compared with stock. The full-length bodies let you set ride height without preloading the springs, and the shortened case keeps usable bump travel at the lower settings.

How firm is the ride compared with a street coilover?

Firmer. The manufacturer describes the RS as a high-spec street damper tuned for sports driving, with spring rates higher than a typical height-adjustable kit at 12kg/mm front and rear. The 15-step damping lets you soften or stiffen the setup for the road or the circuit.

Can the dampers be rebuilt?

Yes. Every unit in the Black Series range can be overhauled, so the kit can be refreshed rather than replaced when the dampers wear. Replacement damper cartridges for the front and rear are also available separately if one unit is damaged.

What tools come with the kit?

A wrench for ride height adjustment and a hex wrench for the damping adjuster are included. Use the damping wrench carefully: the manufacturer warns it can put excessive force on the adjuster, and over-turning the dial can damage the damper shaft.

Which Integra models are they made for?

The manufacturer lists the kit for the DC2 Integra, Type R included. It is listed here for the 1995 to 2001 Honda Integra Type R and the 1997 to 2001 Acura Integra Type R. Some installed photos from the manufacturer show a different Integra body style.

Description

J’s Racing Black Series Coilovers for DC2 Honda Integra Type R

J’s Racing’s Black Series Coilovers for DC2 Integra Type R, sold as the Black Series Damper Kit RS, are the first coilovers the Osaka company designed entirely in-house. They draw on more than 20 years of setup knowledge from Super Taikyu and other race categories. Where most height-adjustable kits are tuned for the street first, the RS is a high-spec street damper set up for sports driving, with stiffer springs than a typical kit at 12kg/mm front and rear, and a front-to-rear balance chosen for cornering. Damping adjusts through 15 steps, and every unit can be overhauled. It suits a Type R that sees canyon roads and track days; a comfort-first commuter will find it firm.

Design and Performance

The full-length design sets ride height on the damper body, and J’s Racing shortened both the case and the stroke so the car can be lowered without giving up bump travel. The dampers are monotube units. J’s Racing recommends a drop of roughly 20 to 40mm from stock, and the higher spring rate is what allows that lower stance.

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
