What vehicles does the PRL Matte Carbon HVI and Inlet Pipe Bundle for FL5 fit?

The Inlet Pipe Bundle for FL5 fits all 2023+ Honda Civic FL5 Type R models, including RHD and international variants. Both components are designed to work with all factory fitment turbochargers on the FL5 platform. No ECU calibration is required for either component.

Does the Inlet Pipe Bundle for FL5 require a tune or ECU calibration to install?

No. Both the PRL Matte Carbon High Volume Intake System and the Carbon Fiber Turbocharger Inlet Pipe Kit are direct bolt-on upgrades that do not require ECU calibration. The intake system is designed to provide a factory-like fuel trim for optimal drivability on stock and tuned applications alike.

Why does the Carbon Fiber Inlet Pipe Kit only work with the PRL High Volume Intake?

The PRL Carbon Fiber Turbocharger Inlet Pipe Kit connects at the outlet of the intake airbox and transitions to the turbocharger compressor inlet. Its dimensions and connection geometry are engineered specifically around the PRL High Volume Intake outlet. It is not compatible with the factory intake or other aftermarket intakes because the connection geometry differs. This bundle pairs the two components that are designed to work together, covering the complete intake path from filter to turbocharger.

What performance improvement does the Inlet Pipe Bundle for FL5 provide over the stock intake system?

The PRL High Volume Intake addresses a documented restriction at the factory rubber inlet, which PRL's testing showed can cause a 10 to 20 horsepower loss when the hood is closed. The HVI's secondary air duct resolves this by maximizing the airflow opening into the airbox. The Carbon Fiber Inlet Pipe Kit then addresses the secondary restriction between the airbox and the turbocharger, offering over a 50% increase in airflow volume compared to the factory inlet pipe. Together, the two components eliminate the primary points of intake restriction from air entry through to the turbocharger inlet, improving bottom-end power, turbo spool, and throttle response.

Is this bundle compatible with a stock or tuned FL5, and does either component affect fuel trims?

Both components work on stock and tuned FL5 builds. PRL designed the High Volume Intake specifically to maintain a factory-like fuel trim, making it compatible with the factory ECU without causing fuel trim or MAF-related issues. No additional injectors, fuel pump upgrades, or calibration changes are required for either component in this bundle.

What is the advantage of buying the Inlet Pipe Bundle for FL5 over purchasing each component separately?

The bundle is priced lower than purchasing the Matte Carbon High Volume Intake System and the Carbon Fiber Turbocharger Inlet Pipe Kit individually. Beyond the price advantage, buying both together ensures the two components are matched in finish and designed to work as a system, covering the complete intake path from the filter housing to the turbocharger inlet without any compatibility concerns or additional adapter hardware.

What warranty covers the Inlet Pipe Bundle for FL5?

Both components in this bundle are PRL Motorsports manufactured products and carry PRL's 12-month limited warranty from the date of purchase against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship, when purchased from PRL Motorsports or an authorized PRL Motorsports dealer. The warranty does not cover products used in racing or off-road applications, products showing evidence of improper installation or misuse, or products altered from PRL's original design intent.

About PRL Motorsports

PRL Motorsports started in 2007 as PRL Racing, a small group of enthusiasts outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, united by a single goal: faster lap times. What began trackside quickly earned a reputation for engineering excellence, producing race cars capable of 9-second quarter-mile passes as early as 2007 and 6-second times by 2009. By 2011, the operation had grown into PRL Motorsports, expanding from trackside tuning into full-scale product development and fabrication across Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi, and Subaru platforms. In 2018, PRL Motorsports made a deliberate shift to focus entirely on manufacturing, concentrating their resources on engineering and producing performance components rather than installation and tuning services. Today, PRL Motorsports operates from a 25,000 sq/ft facility in Export, Pennsylvania, staffed by over 25 professionals and equipped with CNC machining departments, automated cutting stations, dual-spindle lathes, 5-axis milling centers, and robotic loading systems running 24-hour production capacity. Their catalog covers intercooler systems, intake systems, turbocharger systems, exhaust components, and throttle body and intake manifold adapters, many of which carry CARB compliance and SEMA Garage certification. From a 9-second S13 to tuning the first 10th-generation Civic into the 10-second range in 2019, PRL Motorsports has built its reputation on one principle: never settle, always push for the best possible outcome.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
