Does the Catch Can Kit for Toyota Tacoma V6 trucks fit every 2016 to 2023 trim?

Yes, provided the truck has the 3.5L V6. HPS lists SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro, Limited, Nightshade, Trail and Edicion Especial models across 2016-2023, with the trim mix varying by year. Part number 860-021 is the same for all of them, in every finish.

Which hoses come in the kit?

HPS supplies -4 and -6 AN hoses and fittings to connect the can, along with a custom powder coated steel bracket and the mounting hardware. HPS states that the kit includes everything required for a bolt-on installation on the Tacoma V6, so there is nothing extra to source before fitting it.

Will the catch can clean carbon that is already on the valves?

No. A catch can only stops new oil vapor from reaching the intake; it cannot remove deposits that are already present. HPS describes the kit as protection against carbon buildup on the intake valves, so the can does the most good when it is fitted early in the life of the engine.

How is the can drained?

The Catch Can Kit for Toyota Tacoma 3.5L V6 trucks drains from a 14mm hex base, which unscrews with a wrench or socket. A screw-on anodized dipstick shows the level first, and the can holds up to 5 ounces. HPS gives no set interval, so check it at each oil change until the truck shows how fast it fills.

What does a catch can do for the Tacoma V6?

A catch can keeps oil and water vapor from the PCV system out of the intake. HPS says that vapor otherwise contributes to carbon buildup on the intake valves, a particular concern on direct-injected engines such as this V6. HPS publishes no horsepower, torque or fuel economy figures for the kit, so none are claimed here.

Description

HPS Aluminum Oil Catch Can Kit for Toyota Tacoma 3.5L V6

HPS’s Aluminum Oil Catch Can Kit for Toyota Tacoma 3.5L V6 covers every third-generation V6 truck from 2016 to 2023, from the SR and SR5 through the TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro, Limited and Nightshade. A one-piece billet can with internal baffles and diverters sits between the PCV system and the intake, catching oil and water vapor before it reaches the valves, and drains from a 14mm hex base. Owners planning to keep a V6 Tacoma for years are the natural buyers.

Design and Performance

HPS frames the can as protection for the intake valves of a direct-injected engine, and that is the honest scope of it: no power gain is claimed and none should be expected. The trade is a few minutes of upkeep, since the can holds only 5 oz and has to be emptied by hand. For a truck kept for the long term, that is a fair exchange.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
