Introducing Eventuri’s updated Carbon Turbo Tube for the FK8, now featuring an even larger volume to enable the turbo to function with reduced restriction, thereby unlocking additional power. The Eventuri FK8 Carbon Turbo Tube comprises multiple components, each engineered for a specific purpose and fabricated to the highest standards. Eventuri utilizes 100% pre-preg carbon fiber, excluding fiberglass, to achieve a smooth internal surface that maintains smoother airflow.

Objectives

  • Volume: Inlet Diameters – Eventuri’s tube starts at 78mm at the intake end and increases to 88mm, compared to the stock 63mm. The diameter at the connection to the intake system matches the MAF tube and increases to 88mm through the main section of the tube, resulting in a 96% increase in cross-sectional area compared to the OEM tube. The significantly larger internal diameter of the Eventuri tube allows for a much larger internal volume, which de-restricts the flow path to the turbo. This enables the turbo to operate more efficiently, spooling up to peak boost levels faster and operating at peak boost with less turbine loading.
  • Flow Quality: Simply having a large internal volume is insufficient without a flow path that allows for smooth airflow to the turbo. By using high-temperature pre-preg carbon fiber, Eventuri achieves a smooth internal surface, contrasting with the rough internal surface of the stock cast aluminum inlet tube. Coupled with the smooth curvature of the elbow, this results in a flow path that minimizes turbulence.
  • Temperature: Another critical criterion was minimizing heat conduction into the airflow. The stock inlet is directly connected to the turbo, conducting heat immediately as the turbo spools. Eventuri’s system employs a machined flange that connects to the turbo, followed by a silicon coupler with an integrated thermal spacer to prevent direct contact between the carbon elbow and the turbo. This barrier, along with the low thermal conductivity of carbon fiber, results in less heat transfer to the airflow.

Carbon Fiber Turbo Tube

  • Crafted from pre-preg carbon fiber, the Turbo Tube is a one-piece design that maintains a smooth flow path to the turbo. It has an inlet diameter starting at 78mm internally, increasing to 88mm across the main body of the tube before tapering down to the turbo inlet flange. In comparison, the stock turbo tube has an internal diameter of only 63mm, resulting in a cross-sectional area increase of over 96% at its largest point. Additionally, being made from carbon fiber, it is much lighter and has lower thermal conductivity than the stock cast aluminum tube.

Custom Silicon Hoses

  • Eventuri’s silicon joiner hoses ensure a perfect fit and maintain smooth internal airflow. The main silicon hose at the inlet side features an internal step that mates against the turbo tube, eliminating the potential for turbulence against the exposed wall thickness of the tube. The turbo coupler has a silicon spacer ring that separates the carbon from the metal turbo flange, acting as a thermal barrier to reduce heat conduction from the hot turbo flange to the carbon tube.

CNC Machined Turbo Flange

  • CNC machined from aircraft-grade aluminum and anodized, Eventuri’s flange provides a perfect fit and seal against the stock turbo.

Dyno Testing

  • The new Turbo Tube was independently tested at Dream Automotive on an FK8 with stage 1 mapping. All runs used the same map and intake system, conducted back to back on the same day. The OEM tube was tested first to set a baseline, then replaced with the V1 tube, showing a 4hp increase at peak RPM. Switching to the new V3 tube resulted in a further 5hp gain over the V1 tube at peak, equating to 9hp over the OEM tube—double the power gain compared to the previous version. With the larger volume, even greater gains are expected for high-power builds where the turbo demands more airflow.
