Endless Brake Pads for 981 / 982 Porsche Boxster
Endless’s Brake Pads for 981 / 982 Porsche Boxster bridge two generations: the six-cylinder 981 Boxster, Boxster S and Boxster GTS, and the turbocharged 718 Boxster and 718 Boxster S that replaced them. Endless lists the same pair for all five, EIP193 at the front and EIP073 at the rear, so a 2.7-liter 981 and a 2.5-liter 718 Boxster S order identical sets. EIP193 is also the front shape Endless lists for the later 3.6-liter 997 Carrera. On the road, SSM Plus is our choice; for track days on street tires, MX72 Plus.
Features
- Endless pad shapes EIP193 front and EIP073 rear for the 981 Boxster, Boxster S and GTS and the 718 Boxster and Boxster S
- Four street and street-to-track compounds: SSM Plus, MX72, MX72 Plus and CC-Rg
- Eighteen racing compounds, offered as the Racing Group, W003, S330 and MA45B
- Front, rear or front and rear sets in every compound
Choosing a Compound
SSM Plus is our choice for a 981 or 718 Boxster that commutes or tours, since Endless rates it for low dust, low noise and long life, and SSS is not made in these shapes. Step to MX72 for brisk mountain-road driving, to MX72 Plus once the car starts doing track days on street tires, and to CC-Rg if a GTS or S spends regular weekends at the circuit and the road noise is acceptable. Racing compounds are for prepared cars. Endless prices W007 and W008 for these shapes too, but designs both for carbon ceramic rotors, so they are left off a listing written for the iron brakes.
Every figure below is Endless’s own. Friction is the compound’s average friction coefficient, so a higher number gives more bite for the same pedal pressure. The rotor range is the band of rotor temperatures Endless designs the compound to work in, so choose by the temperatures your car will see.
Street and street-to-track compounds
- SSM Plus (street): non-asbestos; friction 0.33-0.40; rotor range 0-550C (32-1022F). Low dust, low noise and long life. Braking builds with pedal pressure rather than a sharp first bite, for drivers who want clean wheels and a quiet car.
- MX72 (street to light track): ceramic carbon metal; friction 0.37-0.47; rotor range 50-700C (122-1292F). Minimal noise and dust, strong friction at low temperatures, reduced rotor wear and a better pedal feel than a typical semi-metallic pad. Endless’s dual-duty compound for a road car that sees the occasional track day.
- MX72 Plus (street to circuit): ceramic carbon metal; friction 0.39-0.47; rotor range 50-750C (122-1382F). Holds its braking force to higher temperatures than MX72, with stable control and a consistent pedal release. Endless aims it at cars on street tires that run on track.
- CC-Rg (track day, street capable): ceramic carbon metal; friction 0.38-0.45; rotor range 50-800C (122-1472F). High initial bite across a wide temperature range, even when cold, and modulation that works with the factory ABS under hard use. Endless notes it is noisy on the street; it is the step up from MX72 Plus for regular track days.
Racing compounds
Each option below is one choice in the Choose Compound menu. For a group, name your compound in the order notes and Bulletproof Automotive confirms it with your order. Every racing compound needs Endless’s bedding procedure: at 70 to 80 percent of normal pedal effort, bring the rotors gradually to 400C (752F), then let them cool below 150C (302F) before hard use.
Racing Group
- ME22: dual braking style; friction 0.33-0.38; rotor range 150-800C (302-1472F). Developed from ME20 with lower friction for control, for light to mid-weight cars or heavier cars on slower circuits. Endless rates it for street and track.
- ME20: trail-braking style; rotor range 150-800C (302-1472F). High, stable friction at high temperature with low wear, developed for touring cars and rally. Works front or rear, with stock or racing ABS.
- N35S: trail-braking style; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). Quick, sharp and responsive, with stable modulation under high temperature and load. Endless’s flagship rally compound, also run in FIA GT, and its suggested starting point for drivers new to Endless racing pads.
- N05U: trail-braking style; friction 0.46-0.53; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). More bite than N35S, popular in sprint-focused Porsche Cup cars.
- N05S: trail-braking style; friction 0.45-0.53; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). Immediate high friction with little pedal effort, used in Japanese rally cars without brake boosters and in European and Australian sprint racing.
- N30C: friction 0.50-0.60; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). High initial bite, gentle on rotors and low wear. A rally compound for cars without a brake booster.
- MS20: friction 0.32-0.38; rotor range 150-800C (302-1472F). A low-friction rear pad with a flat torque curve and long life, for club racing cars.
- MS25: friction 0.36-0.42; rotor range 150-800C (302-1472F). Warms up gradually even under heavy braking. Endless pairs it with a higher-friction pad to prevent lock-up.
- MS35: friction 0.45-0.53; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). Mid to high initial bite with good modulation and control, a sprint pad for a wide range of conditions.
- ML20A: friction 0.30-0.33; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). A rear compound with lower initial bite to prevent rear lock-up, for lightweight GT cars.
- ML35A: friction 0.30-0.38; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). Slightly lower friction with excellent modulation and wear, for lighter GT cars.
- ML40A: friction 0.32-0.47; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). Moderate friction that resists lock-up, an endurance compound.
- S55G: Endless publishes no figures. It suits lightweight and front-wheel-drive cars, and the rear of front-wheel-drive cars, with high controllability.
- PC35: Endless publishes no figures. More bite than N35S with high braking force and a stable pedal; Endless’s base pad for rally raid.
- S41S: Endless publishes no figures. Developed for GT cars, including GT3, under high brake loads.
Sold as their own options
- W003: trail-braking style; friction 0.40-0.45. Similar in character to N35S with better wear, tough and stable at high temperature with a linear torque curve; run in rally, touring cars, ALMS and PWC. Circuit only: Endless does not recommend it for the street and notes high rotor wear when cold.
- S330: trail-braking style; friction 0.60-0.70; rotor range 300-850C (572-1562F). High friction for sprint racing, with good control at high levels and without accelerating rotor wear; run in Super GT, stock cars and GT2 and GT3 sprint racing.
- MA45B: standard braking style; rotor range 300-800C (572-1472F). Endless’s endurance compound: low friction but stable for a whole race, with excellent heat resistance and wear. Most Nurburgring and Spa 24 Hours entrants run it.

Notes
- Each Front or Rear set of Brake Pads for 981 and 982 Boxster cars covers both wheels on one axle
- Not for the 981 Boxster Spyder, which takes different Endless pads
- Endless does not list the 718 Boxster GTS, T or Spyder with these pads, so owners of those cars should check with Bulletproof Automotive
- Not for a Boxster with carbon ceramic brakes, which take different pads
- For the factory calipers; a car converted to an aftermarket big brake kit takes the pads for those calipers
Frequently Asked Questions
- Do the Endless Brake Pads for 981 Boxsters also fit the 718 Boxster? Yes. Endless lists EIP193 front and EIP073 rear for the 718 Boxster and 718 Boxster S, the same pair it gives the 981 Boxster, Boxster S and GTS, so the Brake Pads for 981 cars carry over. The 718 Boxster GTS, T and Spyder are not on the Endless list for these pads, so ask Bulletproof Automotive before ordering for one of those.
- Will these pads fit the 981 Boxster Spyder? No. Porsche gave the Spyder bigger brakes than other 981 Boxsters, with six-piston front calipers and 340mm front rotors shared with the 911 Carrera S, and Endless lists EIP214 front and EIP175 rear for it. Bulletproof Automotive sells the Spyder pads on a separate listing, so check the badge and the calipers before ordering.
- Do these pads fit a Boxster with ceramic brakes? No. They are for the standard iron brakes. A Boxster with carbon ceramic brakes takes different pads, and Endless designs its two carbon ceramic compounds, W007 and W008, for those discs, which is why neither is offered here. If you are not sure which brakes the car has, send Bulletproof Automotive a photo of the calipers and rotors.
- Which Endless compound suits a Boxster GTS or S at track days? For track days on street tires, MX72 Plus, which Endless rates to 750C, or 1382F, and describes as keeping its braking force at higher temperatures than MX72. Regular circuit use calls for CC-Rg, rated to 800C, or 1472F, with high initial bite even when cold. Endless notes that CC-Rg is noisy on the street, so it suits a car that sees more laps than commutes.
- Will SSM Plus stay quiet on a daily-driven Boxster? Yes. Endless rates SSM Plus for low dust, low noise and long life, with braking that builds through the pedal rather than a sharp first bite. MX72 and MX72 Plus also keep noise and dust to a minimum while adding stronger friction at low temperatures. CC-Rg is the noisy one of the four street-capable compounds, and the racing compounds are built for the track.

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only.

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well.
For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at
