The do88 Performance Intercooler Kit MERA for the 991.2 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S exemplifies advanced intercooler technology, engineered for superior cooling and performance. Initially launched in 2018 with a lightweight UK-made tube-and-fin core, the kit has proven its effectiveness in builds exceeding 1000 horsepower. In 2022, do88 enhanced this already outstanding design by upgrading to motorsport-grade Bar & Plate cores from Garrett, achieving even greater performance. The updated version offers a 13% increase in airflow over its predecessor and features a lighter air duct made from genuine prepreg carbon. The kit includes hoses compatible with either the OEM or do88 (63mm) y-pipe, with differences in hose configuration depending on the setup. Despite adding just 3.1kg per intercooler, the performance improvements make this a vital upgrade for high-performance 991.2 models.

Intercooler

The core in the updated do88 Performance Intercooler Kit MERA is new, but the cast end tanks and accessories remain unchanged. The end tanks are designed to precisely distribute airflow across the entire core, optimizing both pressure drop and cooling efficiency. To accommodate the appropriately thick core, a new upper ambient air guide was developed using a 3D-scanned environment, ensuring a perfect fit with the vehicle-integrated air guides and the intercooler. To eliminate bottlenecks, the kit features 70mm intercooler connections, allowing unrestricted airflow. New 3D-designed, CFD-tested hoses are included, optimized for maximum airflow. The turbo outlet hoses are made from high-temperature material, rated for continuous use at 464°F.
To maximize the use of ambient air for heat transfer, the carbon ducts include proper seals that force all airflow through the core, preventing leakage around it. Despite being significantly larger, the all-aluminum intercoolers result in only a modest weight increase. Each intercooler weighs 18.74lbs compared to the OEM intercooler’s 6.83lbs. While this increase may seem significant, it is well justified by the substantial performance gains the intercoolers deliver.

Testing

The do88 intercoolers deliver significantly improved performance by reducing intake temperatures compared to OEM 991 units. Tested with a Stage 1-tuned Porsche 991 during five consecutive full-throttle runs (30-155mph) without cooldowns, the results showed a peak inlet temperature reduction of 30.6°F. The tests, conducted in Sport Plus mode with AC off, involved initial runs with OEM intercoolers, a quick swap to do88 intercoolers, and identical follow-up runs after a brief shakedown. Extensive development, including refined end tank designs and optimized core selection, ensures superior heat transfer and airflow. Verified using the Superflow SF-1020 Probench as a complete system with hoses, the do88 intercoolers offer unmatched cooling efficiency and consistent, reliable performance.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest.
