Does the Silver FMIC Core for GD/GG come with charge pipes?

No. The Silver FMIC Core for GD/GG is sold as the intercooler alone. COBB offers it for cars that already have front mount piping or that will have pipes made to suit. The hot pipes, cold pipes, BPV adapter plate and coolant overflow relocation parts come only in the complete COBB front mount intercooler kit.

Which cars does this intercooler core fit?

COBB confirms it for USDM 2004-2007 Subaru Impreza WRX sedans and wagons with manual or automatic transmissions, and for the 2004-2007 Impreza WRX STI with its manual gearbox. The 2002 and 2003 WRX and the 2008 and later cars are not on the application list, so please contact us before ordering for one of those.

Is this front mount core legal in California?

No. COBB states it is not legal for sale or use in California on any emission controlled motor vehicle while CARB testing is pending. Elsewhere, COBB says it is legal for on-street use in states that accept the Clean Air Act and the EPA Anti-Tampering Policy, based on its own test results.

Do I need a tune after fitting the core?

COBB does not list a tune as a requirement for this core. That said, many cars getting a front mount have other changes such as a larger turbo or new intake, and those often call for a calibration. An Accessport or custom tune is not included and should be planned alongside the rest of the build.

How does the Silver core differ from the Black version?

Only the finish changes. Both versions share the 30 x 10.35 x 3.5 in bar and plate core, the cast end tanks with the COBB logo and the same price. This one carries a silver heat-dissipating coating, part 712502-SL, while the Black version is sold as part 712502-BK for owners who want a darker look behind the grille.

Description

COBB Tuning Silver FMIC Core for GD/GG Subaru WRX and WRX STI

COBB Tuning’s Silver FMIC Core for GD/GG Subaru WRX and WRX STI is the bare intercooler from COBB’s front mount kit: a 30 x 10.35 x 3.5 in bar and plate core with cast end tanks and a silver heat-dissipating finish, made in the USA. It suits an owner whose front mount piping is already in place or whose build needs pipes routed by hand. Starting from the factory top mount with no fabrication plans, the complete COBB kit is the better buy.

Why a Core on Its Own

COBB notes that the small factory top mount, sitting above a hot engine, is easily overworked; as it heat soaks, intake temperature climbs and power fades. Cars that already carry front mount plumbing, or run layouts that demand custom pipe work, can fit the Silver FMIC Core for GD/GG on its own and skip paying for pipes that would never be used.

Features

Bar and plate core construction measuring 30 x 10.35 x 3.5 in

Silver heat-dissipating coating on the core
The same core COBB supplies in its Silver front mount intercooler kit, part 712500-SL

About COBB Tuning

COBB Tuning was founded by Trey Cobb in 1999 in Rockwall, Texas, as a Subaru performance shop in the back of his father’s tire shop, and is now headquartered in Austin, Texas. In 2004 COBB introduced the Accessport, a handheld ECU tuning device that flashes COBB’s off-the-shelf maps or a custom tune and doubles as a real-time gauge and datalogger. The range has since grown from Subaru to Ford, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Toyota platforms, with intakes, intercoolers, exhausts and flex fuel kits engineered alongside the tuning, and many COBB parts carry California Air Resources Board Executive Order numbers for use in all 50 states.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. In short, prices may change without notice. It is always advised to give us a call prior to placing your order online to confirm availability and to confirm current pricing.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
