What does the PDK Accessport V3 for 987.2 cars change in the gearbox?

Depending on the map, it raises minimum shift points in Normal and Sport modes, firms up shifts to reduce clutch slip, lowers the RPM range of continuous clutch slip, and with COBB Aggressive maps shortens upshift and downshift times. The PDK Accessport V3 for 987.2 and 997.2 cars applies these through the transmission control unit.

Will it work on a Cayman S with the manual gearbox?

No. Every vehicle on the confirmed list for this part number is a PDK car, and the PDK flashing is the reason it exists. A manual 987.2 Cayman or Boxster, or a manual 997.2 Carrera, should use the standard COBB Accessport, part AP3-POR-008, which supports both gearboxes.

What is the OEM+ Cayman R map?

It is a COBB transmission calibration that can be loaded on the 987.2 Cayman S, Boxster S and Boxster Spyder with PDK to simulate the factory PDK calibration Porsche used in the Cayman R. It gives those cars the Cayman R shift behavior without changing any hardware.

Is it legal on an emissions controlled car in California?

Yes. COBB lists CARB Executive Order numbers D-660-92, D-660-58, D-660-151 and D-660-158 for this Accessport, allowing sale and use on emissions controlled vehicles in all 50 states, California included, when it is installed and used exactly as the COBB application guide directs.

Which PDK cars are covered?

COBB confirms the 2009 to 2012 Cayman S, Boxster S, Carrera S and Carrera 4S, the 2011 to 2012 Boxster Spyder, Carrera GTS and Carrera 4 GTS, and the 2012 Cayman R, all with PDK. The base Cayman, base Boxster and base Carrera do not appear on the application list.

Description

COBB Tuning PDK Accessport V3 for 987.2 Porsche Cayman, Boxster and 997.2 911 Carrera

COBB Tuning’s PDK Accessport V3 for 987.2 Cayman and Boxster models, and for the 997.2 Carrera, flashes the transmission control unit as well as the engine computer, so the dual-clutch gearbox gets its own calibration to match the engine map. It covers 2009 to 2012 PDK cars only across the S, R, Spyder and GTS trims listed below. Owners of manual cars gain nothing from the PDK flashing and should choose the standard Accessport, part AP3-POR-008.

PDK Calibration

COBB Sport maps on the PDK Accessport V3 for 987.2 and 997.2 cars raise the minimum shift points in Normal and Sport modes, firm up shifts to help reduce clutch slip, and lower the RPM at which the clutch runs in continuous slip, generally between 1000 and 2500 RPM. COBB Aggressive maps add shorter upshift and downshift times, and Carrera owners also get a COBB High Torque Aggressive option. For the Cayman S, Boxster S and Boxster Spyder, an OEM+ map simulates the factory Cayman R PDK calibration.

About COBB Tuning

COBB Tuning was founded by Trey Cobb in 1999 in Rockwall, Texas, as a Subaru performance shop in the back of his father’s tire shop, and is now headquartered in Austin, Texas. In 2004 COBB introduced the Accessport, a handheld ECU tuning device that flashes COBB’s off-the-shelf maps or a custom tune and doubles as a real-time gauge and datalogger. The range has since grown from Subaru to Ford, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Toyota platforms, with intakes, intercoolers, exhausts and flex fuel kits engineered alongside the tuning, and many COBB parts carry California Air Resources Board Executive Order numbers for use in all 50 states.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
