COBB Tuning’s Intercooler Kit for BL Mazda Mazdaspeed3 replaces the small factory top mount with a 24 x 6.5 x 3.5 inch bar and plate aluminum core that sits centered in the lower bumper opening, fed by 2.5 inch mandrel-bent aluminum piping. It is aimed at the tuned Gen2 owner whose intake temperatures climb after the first hard pull, and it carries CARB EO D-660-87 for street use in every state. A stock car with no Accessport will see little reason to fit it yet; tune first, then cool the charge.

Design and Fitment

COBB built the Intercooler Kit for BL Mazda around three goals: efficiency, build quality and fitment. The core keeps the factory crash structure in place and sits symmetrically in the radiator opening, while custom brackets hold it in the narrow space behind the bumper cover. COBB Tuning was founded by Trey Cobb in 1999 in Rockwall, Texas, as a Subaru performance shop in the back of his father’s tire shop, and is now headquartered in Austin, Texas. Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule.
