Which cars does the Black WRX Front Mount Intercooler Kit fit?

COBB confirms fitment on the USDM Subaru WRX sedan from 2015 through 2021, manual and CVT alike. That covers the full VA generation of the standard WRX. It does not fit the WRX STI of the same era, which has its own COBB front mount kit with different charge pipes, and it does not fit the VB WRX launched for 2022.

Is an Accessport included with this intercooler?

No. The box holds the core, charge pipes, coolant overflow tank, washer filler neck and CARB sticker, with no tuning device. COBB does not list a tuning requirement for this kit on its product page. Cars already running a custom map should be checked by the tuner afterward, and an Accessport bought separately can log intake air temperature for comparison.

Can I legally run this kit on a WRX in California?

Yes. The kit holds California Air Resources Board Executive Orders D-660-22, D-660-57, D-660-219 and D-660-259. COBB states that this makes it legal for sale and use on emissions-controlled vehicles in all 50 states when installed following its application guide, and a CARB sticker for D-660-57 is supplied with the kit.

Does the black kit perform differently from the silver kit?

No. The Black WRX Front Mount Intercooler Kit and the silver version share the same 24 x 11 x 4 in bar and plate core dimensions, 2.5 in piping, fitment, CARB coverage and price. The black kit uses core 716500-BK in a black heat-dissipating coating, and the silver kit uses 716500-SL. Choose the finish that suits the look you want.

Will it fit with a non-COBB intake?

COBB says compatibility with intake kits other than its Big SF Intake and Airbox cannot be confirmed. The intercooler was designed around that combination, so it is the safe pairing. If you already run another brand, contact that manufacturer before buying, and expect that you may need to change intakes to complete the install as COBB intended.

Description

COBB Tuning Black WRX Front Mount Intercooler Kit for VA Subaru WRX

COBB Tuning’s Black WRX Front Mount Intercooler Kit relocates intercooling on the 2015-2021 VA Subaru WRX to the front bumper opening, swapping the factory top mount for a 24 x 11 x 4 in bar and plate core in a black heat-dissipating finish. A WRX that sees canyon roads, autocross or summer heat loses power as the stock unit over the engine heat-soaks; a core fed by outside air is aimed at keeping the charge cooler. Pair it with the COBB Big SF Intake and Airbox it was designed for, and note that it carries CARB EOs for all 50 states.

About COBB Tuning

COBB Tuning was founded by Trey Cobb in 1999 in Rockwall, Texas, as a Subaru performance shop in the back of his father’s tire shop, and is now headquartered in Austin, Texas. In 2004 COBB introduced the Accessport, a handheld ECU tuning device that flashes COBB’s off-the-shelf maps or a custom tune and doubles as a real-time gauge and datalogger. The range has since grown from Subaru to Ford, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Toyota platforms, with intakes, intercoolers, exhausts and flex fuel kits engineered alongside the tuning, and many COBB parts carry California Air Resources Board Executive Order numbers for use in all 50 states.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
