What vehicles does the PRL Billet Intercooler Upgrade for DE5 fit?

The Billet Intercooler Upgrade for DE5 fits the 2023+ Acura Integra Type S (DE5) and the 2023+ Honda Civic Type R (FL5), both with the 2.0L turbo I4 K20C1 engine. It fits all variant models, including RHD and international models.

Does the Billet Intercooler Upgrade for DE5 require a tune or ECU calibration?

No. No ECU calibration is required. The intercooler fits the factory mounting locations using its billet machined end tanks and retains the factory intercooler hardware. The torque spec is 18 ft/lb.

Why does the Billet Intercooler Upgrade for DE5 help with heat soak?

The turbo platform is notably prone to heat-soak with the factory intercooler, which raises the risk of detonation and causes power loss. The PRL bar-and-plate core is rated for 600+ horsepower, with a 31% increase in surface area and improved internal flow, and its fins fill the entire width of the bumper opening to keep cooling air moving through to the radiator.

Can I use the Billet Intercooler Upgrade for DE5 with the factory charge pipes?

Yes. The Billet Intercooler Upgrade for DE5 fits factory charge piping. For the best performance, pair it with the PRL Motorsports Charge Pipe Upgrade Kit.

What finishes does the Billet Intercooler Upgrade for DE5 come in?

The Billet Intercooler Upgrade for DE5 is available in a raw aluminum finish or powder-coated black. Both options use billet machined aluminum end tanks for efficient operation and a sleek appearance.

How big is the core on the Billet Intercooler Upgrade for DE5?

The bar-and-plate core measures 28.35in x 4.3in x 7.25in and is rated for 600+ horsepower. It offers a 31% increase in surface area and improved internal flow for optimal cooling and airflow.

Description

PRL Motorsports Billet Intercooler Upgrade for DE5 Acura Integra Type S and FL5 Honda Civic Type R

PRL Motorsports’ Billet Intercooler Upgrade for DE5 Acura Integra Type S and FL5 Honda Civic Type R addresses the heat-soak that Honda’s turbo platform is notably prone to with the standard factory intercooler. Heat-soak increases the risk of detonation and leads to significant power loss due to high charge air and cylinder temperatures, a problem that becomes more pronounced with aggressive driving or increased power output. The upgrade significantly lowers charge air temperatures and enhances potential airflow with a robust bar-and-plate core, while billet machined aluminum end tanks let the intercooler work efficiently and give it a sleek appearance. The Billet Intercooler Upgrade for DE5 fits the factory mounting locations and works with all original air ducts and shrouds, and PRL expanded the intercooler fins to fill the entire width of the front bumper’s opening, ensuring adequate cooling through the intercooler to the radiator.

About PRL Motorsports

PRL Motorsports started in 2007 as PRL Racing, a small group of enthusiasts outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, united by a single goal: faster lap times. What began trackside quickly earned a reputation for engineering excellence, producing race cars capable of 9-second quarter-mile passes as early as 2007 and 6-second times by 2009. By 2011, the operation had grown into PRL Motorsports, expanding from trackside tuning into full-scale product development and fabrication across Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi, and Subaru platforms. In 2018, PRL Motorsports made a deliberate shift to focus entirely on manufacturing, concentrating their resources on engineering and producing performance components rather than installation and tuning services. Today, PRL Motorsports operates from a 25,000 sq/ft facility in Export, Pennsylvania, staffed by over 25 professionals and equipped with CNC machining departments, automated cutting stations, dual-spindle lathes, 5-axis milling centers, and robotic loading systems running 24-hour production capacity. Their catalog covers intercooler systems, intake systems, turbocharger systems, exhaust components, and throttle body and intake manifold adapters, many of which carry CARB compliance and SEMA Garage certification. From a 9-second S13 to tuning the first 10th-generation Civic into the 10-second range in 2019, PRL Motorsports has built its reputation on one principle: never settle, always push for the best possible outcome.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
