The AWE Tuning 3.0T Touring Edition Exhaust for the B8.5 Audi S4 is a downpipe-back system engineered to refine the S4’s V6 character while improving exhaust flow. It uses straight-through mufflers paired with AWE’s 180 Technology® drone-canceling resonators, providing a deep, full-bodied tone under acceleration without introducing unwanted cabin drone at highway speeds. Constructed from CNC mandrel-bent, U.S.-sourced T304 stainless steel, the system retains factory mounting points for a direct-fit installation. Outfitted with 90mm chrome silver tips, it integrates cleanly with the rear valance, preserving throttle response and engine character while offering subtle performance improvements and a more controlled, balanced exhaust note.

Touring Edition Exhaust

• The Touring Edition Exhaust pairs performance with refinement through a 3” T304L stainless steel downpipe-back layout. Its straight-through design produces a deep, controlled K20 exhaust note without highway drone, incorporating an integrated frontpipe, custom midpipe resonator, and AWE’s patented 180 Technology® drone-canceling system. Under boost or heavy throttle, the exhaust becomes lively and aggressive, yet the cabin remains quiet during cruising. Exhaust gases flow through 180 Technology-equipped resonators, where sound waves are directed through precisely positioned ports into reflection chambers; the reflected waves rejoin the main flow 180 degrees out of phase, canceling unwanted frequencies while maintaining full power. What is 180 Technology?

• AWE Tuning’s patented 180 Technology® directs exhaust gases through a resonator fitted with precisely positioned ports and reflection chambers, where sound waves bounce and interact. The dimensions and placement of these ports are engineered to determine exactly when the reflected waves rejoin the main exhaust flow, producing a 180-degree out-of-phase wave that cancels unwanted frequencies. Rather than a one-size-fits-all design, each resonator is specifically tuned to the vehicle’s acoustic profile, ensuring a consistent and balanced exhaust tone. The result is a clean, controlled sound that removes harsh or intrusive notes while maintaining full performance, delivering the distinct AWE exhaust character with clarity and power on every drive.

Exhaust Tips

• Each system is equipped with three 4.5” double-walled, slash-cut tips in either Chrome Silver or Diamond Black, each bearing the stamped AWE logo. The tips can be adjusted individually, allowing you to control their extension from the bumper to match your preference.

Nope, It’s Not Valved

• During development, AWE carefully analyzed the factory exhaust valve’s operation across different driving conditions. They found that exhaust volume remains largely consistent in modes where the valve is active. The valve stays closed only in Comfort mode, opening once a specific throttle threshold is met. In Sport and Sport+ modes, it remains open, with Sport+ adding ECU-controlled burble effects. In the stock setup, exhaust gases are routed through the side mufflers when the valve is closed to minimize cabin noise and reduce drone-prone frequencies, while opening the valve directs flow through the center section.
