The AWE Tuning 3.0T Touring Edition Exhaust for the B8 and B8.5 Audi S4 is a downpipe-back system engineered to enhance exhaust flow and refine the car’s naturally aspirated V6 sound character. It features straight-through mufflers paired with AWE’s 180 Technology® drone-canceling resonators to deliver a full-bodied, smooth tone under acceleration while keeping cabin noise and highway drone minimal. Constructed from CNC mandrel-bent, U.S.-sourced T304 stainless steel, the system maintains factory mounting points for a direct-fit installation. The 90mm Diamond Black tips provide a clean, integrated look in the rear valance, and the design preserves throttle response and engine character, offering subtle performance gains without altering everyday drivability.

Touring Edition Exhaust

• The Touring Edition Exhaust combines refinement with performance through a 3” T304L stainless steel downpipe-back layout. Its straight-through design delivers a deep, controlled exhaust note without highway drone, featuring an integrated frontpipe, custom midpipe resonator, and AWE’s patented 180 Technology® drone-canceling system. This setup produces a full-bodied, rasp-free K20 soundtrack that comes alive under boost or heavy throttle, while keeping the cabin quiet during cruising. The system is engineered so that exhaust gases pass through 180 Technology-equipped resonators, where sound waves are channeled through precisely positioned ports into reflection chambers. The reflected waves then rejoin the main flow 180 degrees out of phase, canceling unwanted frequencies, all while preserving full power. What is 180 Technology?

• AWE Tuning’s patented 180 Technology® channels exhaust gases through a resonator with carefully positioned ports and reflection chambers, where sound waves bounce and interact. The size and placement of these ports are engineered to control when the reflected waves merge back into the main exhaust flow, creating a 180-degree out-of-phase wave that cancels unwanted frequencies. Each resonator is tuned to the unique acoustic profile of the vehicle, rather than using a universal design, ensuring a consistent, balanced exhaust tone. The result is a clean, refined sound that eliminates harsh or unpleasant notes while preserving full performance, delivering the signature AWE exhaust character with precise tone and maximum power on every drive.

Exhaust Tips

• Each system includes three 4.5” double-walled, slash-cut tips, available in Chrome Silver or Diamond Black, each featuring a stamped AWE logo. The tips are individually adjustable, letting you control how far they extend from the bumper to suit your preference.

Nope, It’s Not Valved

• During development, AWE closely studied the factory exhaust valve’s behavior across various driving conditions. They observed that volume stays mostly consistent in modes where the valve is active. The valve remains closed only in Comfort mode, opening once a certain throttle point is reached. In Sport and Sport+ modes, it stays open, with Sport+ introducing ECU-managed burble effects. In the stock configuration, exhaust is routed through the side mufflers when the valve is closed to reduce cabin noise and limit drone-prone frequencies, and through the center section when the valve is open.
