How much power does the Single Mid-Pipe for F87 add?

Active Autowerke has not published a dyno result for the Single Mid-Pipe for F87 BMW M2 Competition and M2 CS. Its figures of 18 or more wheel horsepower and 30 or more lb-ft come from the F8X M3 and M4 with its rear section also fitted, which share the S55 engine.

Does it fit the 2016 to 2018 M2?

No. Active Autowerke engineered this mid-pipe for the M2 Competition with the twin turbo S55, which the M2 CS shares. The earlier M2 uses the single turbo N55 and a different exhaust layout. Confirm the engine in your car before ordering.

Which version should I choose?

Straight pipes give the most open and aggressive sound. Resonated pipes keep the deeper single-pipe tone with less edge for long drives. The exhaust dump version adds Active Autowerke dump outlet after the downpipes for the most sound, and it costs the most of the three.

Why does the factory mid-pipe sound the way it does?

BMW fitted the F87 with a middle silencer that has a small internal crossover. Active Autowerke found that it helps with drone but restricts flow and amplifies the uneven turbo sound. Replacing it with one merged pipe is how Active Autowerke removes much of the weed eater character.

Is the F-brace included?

Yes. Every version ships with the Active F-brace along with the mid-pipe, so there is nothing extra to buy for the installation. The oval pipe keeps ground clearance close to factory despite its 3.5 inch flow capacity, so the car can be driven normally afterward.

Description

Active Autowerke Signature Single Mid-Pipe for F87 BMW M2 Competition and M2 CS

Active Autowerke’s Single Mid-Pipe for F87 BMW M2 Competition and M2 CS gives the S55 version of the M2 the same cure Active Autowerke developed for the F80 M3 and F82 M4: one large merged pipe in place of the factory crossover and middle silencer, which Active Autowerke found amplify the out-of-sync turbo sound owners liken to a weed eater. The pipe is oval so it carries 3.5 inches of flow without hanging lower than the car can afford. Three versions suit different owners: straight pipes for the most open voice, resonated pipes for a softer one, and a version with Active Autowerke’s exhaust dump after the downpipes. It is the mid-pipe for an M2 Competition owner who wants a deeper, throatier car and less back pressure.

Design and Performance

Active Autowerke designed the F87 mid-pipe specifically for the M2 Competition. The single-pipe layout is lighter than the factory system, and Active Autowerke credits the reduced back pressure with quicker turbo spool and more low and mid-range power. On the F8X M3 and M4, with its rear section also fitted, Active Autowerke measured 18 or more wheel horsepower and 30 or more lb-ft on a Mustang dyno.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
