Can the Prima Supercharger Kit for E46 M3 run without an intercooler?

Yes. The Prima Supercharger Kit for E46 M3 is a non-intercooled system by design. Active Autowerke says its development and tuning work on the S54, which runs 11.5:1 compression, allows the stock engine to run the kit safely at 5.8 psi with the supplied Alpha N software.

Is the Prima kit reversible?

Yes. The Prima is a full bolt-on system that needs no custom fabrication, and Active Autowerke describes it as completely reversible. With no front-mount intercooler to plumb, the hoses and clamps arrive pre-assembled and the car can be returned to its factory intake later.

Does it work with SMG?

Yes. Active Autowerke offers the Prima in two versions at the same price, 12-021S for SMG cars and 12-021 for the 6-speed manual. Choose the transmission when ordering, because the kit is matched to the car it is going on.

How much power does the base Prima make?

On a Dynojet chassis dyno, Active Autowerke measured 395 wheel horsepower at 8150 rpm and 297.99 lb-ft at 7200 rpm from 5.8 psi, against 285.4 wheel horsepower and 232.36 lb-ft for the same E46 M3 before the kit was fitted.

Can the kit be upgraded later?

Yes. Active Autowerke built the Prima to be upgraded through its Level 1 and Level 2 options, and the Prima PLUS upgrade kit adds a trunk-mounted water/methanol system with matched software that raises boost to 9.5 psi on 93 octane fuel.

Description

Active Autowerke Prima Supercharger Kit for E46 BMW M3

Active Autowerke’s Prima Supercharger Kit for E46 BMW M3 is the plainest way into boost for the S54: a Rotrex C38-92 with no intercooler, bolted on without fabrication and fully reversible, developed with Frank Smith of TuningTechFS. On a Dynojet the base kit lifted an E46 M3 from 285.4 to 395 wheel horsepower at just 5.8 psi, with the power arriving high in the rev range where the S54 already lives. It suits the owner who wants a large, linear gain at the lowest entry cost and room to grow; anyone wanting the water/methanol version from the start should look at the Prima PLUS Supercharger Kit.

Design and Performance

Boosting the S54 without an intercooler was once thought reckless because of its 11.5:1 compression ratio. Active Autowerke says years of development and tuning on this engine let the Prima hardware and Alpha N software run the stock motor safely at modest boost, which keeps front-mount plumbing out of the bumper and the install simple to undo.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
