Does the Prima PLUS Supercharger Upgrade Kit include a supercharger?

No. The Prima PLUS Supercharger Upgrade Kit adds the water/methanol system, wiring and matched software to an E46 M3 that already runs the Active Autowerke Prima supercharger kit. A car without a Prima needs the base Prima kit first, or the complete Prima PLUS kit for SMG cars.

How much power does the upgrade add?

Active Autowerke measured the base Prima at 395 rear-wheel horsepower and the Prima PLUS at 465+ on a stock-engine E46 M3 running 93 octane with headers, a section 1 and a rear exhaust fitted. It quotes the PLUS at 550+ horsepower at the engine.

Is an intercooler needed with the PLUS upgrade?

No. The Prima stays non-intercooled, and the PLUS relies on water/methanol injection with precise tuning to manage charge temperature at 9.5 psi. If the fluid runs low or excessive detonation appears, the fail-safe returns the system to 6.0 psi to protect the S54.

Where does the water/methanol tank go?

The tank mounts in the trunk of the E46 M3 on its own dedicated holding base. Active Autowerke designed the mounting to be non-intrusive so the existing factory trunk space is kept, with the exception of convertible models, where the tank does take up some of the trunk.

Which version should I order?

Active Autowerke sells the upgrade in two versions at the same price: 12-022S for cars with the SMG transmission and 12-022 for cars with the 6-speed manual. Choose the version that matches the transmission fitted to the car when ordering the upgrade kit.

Description

Active Autowerke Prima PLUS Supercharger Upgrade Kit for E46 BMW M3

Active Autowerke’s Prima PLUS Supercharger Upgrade Kit for E46 BMW M3 converts an installed Prima system to PLUS specification, adding a trunk-mounted water/methanol system and software matched to 9.0 and 9.5 psi. It does not include a supercharger. Active Autowerke worked the calibration up with Frank Smith of Tuning Tech FS, logging every dyno pull and checking air/fuel ratios, and its figures put the Prima at 395 wheel horsepower and the PLUS at 465+ on 93 octane. For a Prima owner wanting the extra 70 at the wheels, this is far cheaper than starting again; a car with no supercharger needs the complete Prima PLUS Supercharger Kit.

How It Works

Rather than adding an intercooler, the PLUS cools the charge with a spray of water and methanol. Flipping the switch arms the system and the 9.5 psi setting, and if fluid runs low or detonation becomes excessive the fail-safe returns the supercharger to 6.0 psi on its own.

Features

Complete water/methanol system for the existing Prima installation
Water/methanol pump with internal seals and nozzles built to handle methanol
Trunk-mounted reservoir on a dedicated holding base, placed to preserve factory trunk space

Precise software tuning for the designated boost levels
Operates on 93 octane pump fuel
Detailed step-by-step instructions

Notes

The Prima PLUS Supercharger Upgrade Kit requires an installed Prima Supercharger Kit for E46 M3 and does not include the supercharger; SMG cars starting from stock can buy the complete Prima PLUS Supercharger Kit

Convertibles lose some trunk space to the reservoir
Offered for SMG and 6-speed manual cars; choose the version that matches the transmission

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
