Who should choose the GESI Catted Downpipes for G80 over the AFlow version?

Owners building serious power. The GESI Catted Downpipes for G80 / G82 BMW M3 / M4 and G87 M2 carry converters rated from 500 to 850 horsepower per cat, against 800 horsepower for the AFlow set. The pipework is the same, so a car on factory software gains little from the higher price.

Do I need a tune after fitting catted downpipes to an S58?

No. Active Autowerke sells this set as needing no performance tune, and the catalysts keep the downstream oxygen sensors in range on factory software. A tune added later makes use of the freer flow, and that is where the higher GESI rating starts to matter.

Will the GESI converters set a check engine light?

No. Active Autowerke states that these GESI converters will not set a catalyst efficiency fault. The 400 cell substrate reaches working efficiency within 9 seconds of startup, and the converters are EPA registered and OBD2 compliant, so the S58 monitors report as they do on the factory parts.

How difficult is the installation on a G80 or G87?

It is a bolt-on job with no cutting or welding. Each pipe locates at its turbo through a cast stainless V-band, a flex section takes up engine movement, and the 70mm outlet meets the factory mid-pipe directly. A lift makes the work far easier, and nothing on the car is modified.

What do the downpipes do for the sound of the S58?

Active Autowerke developed them as one part of a three-piece S58 exhaust with a mid-pipe and a valved axle-back, because it found the stock G80 note muffled. The downpipes are aimed mainly at quicker spool; the larger change in sound comes once the mid-pipe and axle-back are fitted too.

Description

Active Autowerke GESI Catted Downpipes for G80 / G82 BMW M3 / M4 and G87 M2

Active Autowerke’s GESI Catted Downpipes for G80 / G82 BMW M3 / M4 and G87 M2 pair the Miami shop’s 3 inch S58 downpipes with GESI G-Sport UHO-series converters, rated for 500 to 850 horsepower per cat. That headroom is the reason to buy them. An S58 built far beyond factory output needs converters that will not become the restriction, and Active Autowerke calls these the most advanced catalysts GESI makes. On a stock or lightly modified car, the AFlow Catted Downpipes use identical pipework for less.

Construction

The pipe was routed with the fewest bends the tunnel allows, so the S58 turbines meet little resistance while they spool. Cast stainless V-band flanges seal each pipe to its turbo, braided flex sections absorb engine rock, and each outlet bolts to the factory mid-pipe at stock diameter with no adapter.

Features

Pair of GESI G-Sport UHO-series high flow converters
EPA registered and OBD2 compliant
304 stainless substrate furnace brazed to the mantle, rated to 1500F
GESI proprietary precious metal loading
Cast stainless upper V-band flanges and stainless flex joints
TIG welded 304 stainless steel, built in Miami, Florida
Bolt-on installation with no cutting, welding or tune required

Notes

The GESI Catted Downpipes for G80 bolt to the stock mid-pipe or to the Equal Length Mid-Pipe for G80, Single Mid-Pipe for G80, Equal Length Mid-Pipe for G87 or Single Mid-Pipe for G87
The system is completed by the Valved Axle-Back Exhaust for G80 / G82 or for the G87, also sold as the G80 / G82 exhaust bundle and G87 exhaust bundle
Shells and tube ends carry a 5 year or 50,000 mile warranty and the catalytic cores 2 years or 25,000 miles, original purchaser only. The core warranty is void on any car tuned for more burble than stock.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
