Nitron RacePro 3 Coilover Kit for 116 Vauxhall VX220

A VX220 that has been built for competition, whether it runs hill-climbs, sprints or wheel-to-wheel club racing, needs more control than any single-adjuster coilover can give. The Nitron VX220 RacePro 3 kit is Nitron’s full-race package for the car. Rebound, low-speed compression and high-speed compression adjust independently at all four corners. You can sort the VX220’s turn-in, mid-corner balance and behavior over bumpy surfaces as three separate jobs, so curing one problem doesn’t create another. The Nitron VX220 RacePro 3 uses a 46mm piston for precise control as braking and cornering loads climb. The dampers are mounted inverted to keep unsprung weight low, and hose-mounted reservoirs at both ends keep damping consistent through a long session or a full day of timed runs. Mounting brackets are included, supplied for your car’s drive side.

Specialized Bi-Axis Hose Fittings

Fitting reservoirs on a VX220 means running four hoses through spaces that weren’t designed for them. At the front, the hoses run around the wishbones, steering rack and radiator ducting. At the rear they share space with the subframe, the exhaust and, on Turbo cars, the turbo plumbing in a hot engine bay. On the Nitron VX220 RacePro 3, Nitron’s Bi-Axis fittings swivel on two axes where each hose leaves the damper. Each hose can be pointed straight along its best route, without kinking or rubbing on moving parts through full travel and lock. That flexibility also gives you more choice in where the reservoirs mount. You can keep them away from heat and place the adjusters where they’re easy to reach between runs.

Nitron builds the Nitron VX220 RacePro 3 on the same 46mm damper platform it uses in competition. Each of the three adjustment circuits handles a different job. Rebound controls how quickly each corner extends after being compressed. On a VX220 it’s the main tool for managing weight transfer between braking and power, and for keeping the rear settled when boost comes in on corner exit. Low-speed compression controls body movement from steering, braking and throttle, which sets how quickly the car takes a set and how sharp the front feels mid-corner. High-speed compression handles sudden, sharp inputs from curbs, crests and the broken surfaces many hill-climb and sprint courses run on. Backing it off keeps the wheels in contact without softening the rest of the setup. The remote reservoirs give the oil and nitrogen more volume, so pressure and temperature stay stable as the dampers work hard. Inverted mounting and very low internal friction let the Nitron VX220 RacePro 3 respond as soon as the wheel moves. Every click on every adjuster gives a measurable change you can repeat at the next event.

Special order items from overseas take considerably longer.
