Are these springs sold as a pair?

Yes. One TEIN part number describes one spring, and the set ships as two identical springs at 24.0 kgf/mm. That covers the left and right front of a Super Racing equipped EK Civic. The rear of the same kit needs its own pair at 16.0 kgf/mm.

Which car is this spring specified for?

TEIN lists it for the front axle of its Super Racing damper kit on the 1996-2000 EK Honda Civic. The spring does not fit a car on its own; it needs a coilover damper with a 58 mm spring seat, such as the dampers in that kit.

Why are the Racing Springs 24K 125mm not High Load type?

TEIN names High Load type springs in the EK Civic kit specification, but TEIN USA does not list a 58 mm High Load spring at 125 mm. The TEIN Racing Springs 24K 125mm are the standard racing type that matches the specified rate, length and ID.

What does the maximum stroke figure mean?

It is the most compression TEIN allows for this spring, 49 mm in this case. Beyond that stroke, or beyond the rated load, TEIN says the spring may not perform as designed and can sag, deform or break, so the coilover setup must keep it inside that limit.

Is 24 kgf/mm too stiff for a street Civic?

For most street driving, yes. TEIN recommends its racing springs for competition and motorsport use, and this rate belongs to the circuit setup of the Super Racing kit. A road Civic on factory springs is better served by a product made for street use.

Description

TEIN Racing Springs 24K 125mm 58mm ID (Pair)

TEIN’s Racing Springs 24K 125mm are the stiff end of the spring pair TEIN specifies for its Super Racing damper kit on the 1996-2000 EK Honda Civic, where they sit on the front axle. At 24.0 kgf/mm on a short 125 mm body with a 58 mm ID, they suit a circuit-focused Civic that already runs those coilovers. On a road Civic still using factory springs and dampers, this rate is overkill.

Why a Linear Racing Coil

TEIN winds its racing springs with less material than its Standard springs, which buys extra stroke and trims weight from each corner. The rate stays linear, so the front of the car meets the same 24.0 kgf/mm whether it is lightly loaded or deep in a braking zone. Flat top and bottom ends are made for coilover spring seats, and the coil carries the familiar TEIN green.

Features

Linear rate from first compression to the stroke limit
Reduced-material coil gives more stroke than a TEIN Standard spring
TEIN Racing Springs 24K 125mm weigh less than TEIN Standard springs
Flat top and bottom ends made for coilover spring seats
Matching TEIN helper springs and hardware offered for this ID

Specifications

Spring rate: 24.0 kgf/mm (1344 lbs/in)
Free length: 125 mm (4.9 in)
Inner diameter: 58 mm
Type: Standard racing type
Maximum stroke: 1.9 in (49 mm)
Sold as: Pair (two identical springs)
Material tensile strength: 200 kgf/mm2

Applications

Honda Civic (front axle with the TEIN Super Racing kit): EK | 1996-2000

Notes

Special order from TEIN Japan with a variable lead time; once placed, the order cannot be cancelled or returned
TEIN warns that running past the maximum stroke or rated load can leave the spring sagged, deformed or broken
Specified for the front of the TEIN Super Racing Dampers for EK Honda Civic, with TEIN Racing Springs 16K 125mm at the rear
That kit spec names High Load type springs, but TEIN USA lists no 58 mm High Load spring at 125 mm, so this standard racing spring is the TEIN part at that rate and size
Photos are representative of the TEIN racing spring range and are not of this exact rate and length

About TEIN

TEIN was founded in Yokohama, Japan, in 1985 by former rally mechanic Hakaru Ichino, joined soon after by driver Yoshio Fujimoto. The team reached the World Rally Championship in 1989, and in 1995 Fujimoto won the Safari Rally in a Toyota Celica GT-FOUR, the first Japanese driver to do so. TEIN launched its own dampers in 1990 and came to supply around 80 percent of the dampers in the N1 Taikyu endurance series. TEIN USA has served the Americas from Downey, California, since 2001.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
