Are springs included?

Yes. Four springs come with the dampers: 10.0 kgf/mm, or 560 lbs/in, at the front and 8.0 kgf/mm, or 448 lbs/in, at the rear, both with a 70 mm inner diameter. The fronts are 150 mm long and the rears 140 mm.

Does the same kit fit both NA and NB Miatas?

Yes. TEIN lists the TEIN Mono Sport Coilovers for NA and NB cars, chassis NA6C, NA8C and NB8C, with separate ride height ranges for each. Recommended settings are 0.8 to 1.6 inches lower front and 1.0 to 1.8 inches rear on the NA.

How low does TEIN recommend on an NB?

TEIN recommends 1.0 to 1.8 inches lower at the front and 1.2 to 2.0 inches lower at the rear on an NB. The adjustable range is wider, from 3.3 inches lower to 0.9 inches higher at the front and 3.1 inches lower to 0.6 inches higher at the rear.

Will the TEIN Mono Sport Coilovers for NA ride well on the street?

Yes. TEIN tuned the spring rates and damping to keep the ride comfortable at low and middle speeds on the street while reducing body roll, and the 16-level adjuster lets the driver soften or firm up the setting as roads and plans change.

Is any adjustment needed during installation?

Possibly at the front. TEIN notes that the camber angle may need adjusting so the damper does not touch the arm. Plan for an alignment after fitting, and the kit is EDFC compatible if in-cabin damping control is wanted later, with the controller sold separately.

Description

TEIN Mono Sport Coilovers for NA / NB Mazda MX-5 Miata

TEIN’s Mono Sport Coilovers for NA and NB Mazda MX-5 Miata keep the sportiness of the first two generations while trimming body roll, so the car holds its line better through a bend. TEIN chose 10.0 kgf/mm front and 8.0 kgf/mm rear springs and tuned the damping to stay comfortable at low and middle street speeds. It is a sensible upgrade for a Miata driven on twisting roads; a dedicated time-attack car would want the stiffer focus of Mono Racing.

Fit and Construction

Pillow ball upper mounts are fitted at both ends. Height is set by case length, so stroke and spring preload stay where TEIN designed them, and the NA and NB each get their own published ranges. Shell cases are STKM13C steel with TEIN’s ZTP low-friction coating, and wrought aluminium spring seats turn on hard-resin thrust washers when ride height is adjusted.

Features

Less body roll with ride comfort kept at low and middle speeds
Mono-tube dampers with separate oil and gas chambers
16-level damping through ADVANCE M.S.V., compression and rebound together
Model-specific dust boots and final assembly in a clean room
One kit covers both the NA and NB generations

About TEIN

TEIN was founded in Yokohama, Japan, in 1985 by former rally mechanic Hakaru Ichino, joined soon after by driver Yoshio Fujimoto. The team reached the World Rally Championship in 1989, and in 1995 Fujimoto won the Safari Rally in a Toyota Celica GT-FOUR, the first Japanese driver to do so. TEIN launched its own dampers in 1990 and came to supply around 80 percent of the dampers in the N1 Taikyu endurance series. TEIN USA has served the Americas from Downey, California, since 2001.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
