Will this kit fit a US-market STI?

No, not according to TEIN. Its listing covers the Japanese-market GRB, GVB and A-Line GRF and GVF only, although Turn 14 describes the kit as fitting the 2011 and later GVF. Ask BA to confirm before ordering; TEIN USA lists the Mono Racing kit for US cars.

Are the TEIN Mono Sport Coilovers for GRB comfortable on the street?

Yes, for a stiffly sprung kit. TEIN tuned the Mono Sport Coilovers for GRB so the damping follows broken roads smoothly despite the 10.0 and 8.0 kgf/mm springs, keeping ride comfort while body roll drops. The 16-level adjuster can soften the setting further.

How much lower does the GRB sit?

TEIN recommends 0.8 to 1.6 inches below stock at the front and 0.6 to 1.4 inches at the rear for the GRB. The rear can also be raised as much as 1.4 inches above stock, which leaves room to fine-tune the rake of the car.

Is interior modification required?

Yes. TEIN states that the rear interior must be modified to install this kit, so allow time for it during fitting. Front camber is adjustable through the pillow ball upper mounts, which helps when aligning the car after it has been lowered.

Does the kit work with TEIN EDFC?

Yes. The dampers accept TEIN EDFC, sold separately, which swaps each adjuster knob for a stepping motor controlled from the cabin. That doubles the range to 32 levels, and EDFC ACTIVE or ACTIVE PRO raise it to 64 with automatic changes by G-force and speed.

Description

TEIN Mono Sport Coilovers for GRB / GVB Subaru Impreza WRX STI

TEIN’s Mono Sport Coilovers for GRB and GVB Impreza WRX STI are listed by TEIN for Japanese-market cars only, including the A-Line versions on the GRF and GVF bodies. Owners of US-market STIs should ask BA to confirm fitment first, because TEIN USA lists the Mono Racing kit for those cars. For a JDM car, this kit brings stiff 10.0 and 8.0 kgf/mm springs with damping that still follows broken roads smoothly.

Road and Track Character

TEIN set out to cut body roll sharply for stability, then tuned the damping so the stiff springs do not turn into a harsh ride over poor surfaces. Road holding and control near the limit both improve while ride comfort holds up. Front pillow ball mounts add camber adjustment, and the rear mounts are pillow ball as well.

Features

Mono-tube dampers keep oil and gas apart, avoiding aeration under hard use
Upright Strong Tube struts, a triple-tube structure TEIN calls a mass-production first
16-level damping via ADVANCE M.S.V., compression and rebound adjusted together
Full-length bodies leave stroke and preload alone when ride height changes
Ribbed knuckle brackets with conical spring washers to resist loosening
Overhaulable and revalvable by TEIN when the dampers need service

About TEIN

TEIN was founded in Yokohama, Japan, in 1985 by former rally mechanic Hakaru Ichino, joined soon after by driver Yoshio Fujimoto. The team reached the World Rally Championship in 1989, and in 1995 Fujimoto won the Safari Rally in a Toyota Celica GT-FOUR, the first Japanese driver to do so. TEIN launched its own dampers in 1990 and came to supply around 80 percent of the dampers in the N1 Taikyu endurance series. TEIN USA has served the Americas from Downey, California, since 2001.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
